Hi everyone, I just discovered the map blocking feature.  It's pretty nifty as we don't have it in the Blitz version.

Since I plan on going through the Chinese lights, what would be the best maps to block so I can eliminate unfavorable matchups?

My first thoughts are town based maps like ensk, paris, ruinberg, and minsk.  I like ensk more than the others listed because it has a field to play out of with bushes.  Am I correct on blocking some of the maps I listed, or am I missing a few that I should know are particularly bad for lights?

Himmelsdorf, ruinburg is half decent for lights, ensk is to small for me so I hate it, Minsk is not very good for lights

Ensk, by far is the worst scout map due to small size.  The rest of the city maps at least have some area to move around in.

I block Ensk - too small - and Pilsen - I just hate it.  I don't bother blocking Mines, the battles are short enough that the pain doesn't last long.

Remember that you will still see the Encounter or Assault versions of a blocked map if they are enabled in your settings, as the blocking only applies to standard battle maps.

Himmelsdorf is by far the worst.

Paris and Ensk are trouble but there can be massive spotting totals in them if everything lines up. I've spotted Paris in the EBRs for the 4x unspotted mission. But it is almost impossible to spot in Himmlesdorf.

Personally, I would get rid of Emperor's Border map.  This map is quite unbalanced, and is a difficult map for light.  No other maps are as bad as this one.  The main issue for light on this map is the unpredictability, and the difficulty to get away.

Himmelsdorf & Ensk for lights - These 2 maps are extremely difficult for light tanks to get assisted damage.

I play primarily lights and block empire's border and airfield.

You're just going to have to deal with maps that are bad for spotting, and you'll have to develop damage dealing skills to compensate, so I block maps that I just find overly campy, unbalanced, or unfun.

The tech tree Chinese lights also have pretty good guns in terms of pen and alpha (until the tier 9 when you get a gimped med gun), and can do surprisingly well in knife fights.

I gave up playing my LTs primarily for spotting when my chaffee stopped seeing tier 10s.  That means I embrace the combat role first and foremost and the spotting I do is primarily for my own shots.  If the team shoots what I light, even better.

So, that being said, the smallest and most corridorish maps are what I tend to block, because there just isn't enough room, or the room they do have is too funnel/face-check based.

For that reason, Ensk is always blocked.  And currently Mt Pass is blocked.  I've had some epic games on Mt Pass in every tank class, but frankly have never enjoyed a single battle there.  And for me, entertainment options tend to be where/when I block maps.  In the past I have also blocked Abbey, Ruinberg, Himmels, Airfield and of course Paris.

FYI the blocked maps are only for "regular" battles, if you have encounter enabled then you can still get Ensk, Mines, and Himmesldorf just to name a few that already have been mentioned.

But those two maps are fine for lights to do actual damage.
