This was one of the harder vehicles I’ve 3-Marked, but 3-Marked it was. Now…onto the T14!

The T14 is a Tier 5 Premium American Heavy Tank. In real life, the T14 was a joint project between the United States and Britain in an effort to produce a ‘universal infantry tank’. However, by the time 2 prototypes had been made, the Churchill was already well-established. 1 T14 was sent to Britain, and this is the tank that is on display at the Tank Museum in Bovington, awaiting restoration.

The price of the T14 is listed on Wargaming’s Wiki as being 1500 Gold, but the T14 is not available in-game or in the Premium Shop. It is a ‘rare’ tank. But, regardless of availability and price, what pros and cons come with the T14?

PROS:

--Thin but deceptively well-angled armor.

--Good turret armor, and can go hull down.

--Good speed (34KPH) and weight (50 tons) means it is a great rammer.

--Gun is somewhat rapid-firing.

--Preferential MM, meaning you will never see Tier 7.

--Great amount of health.

--Spaced side armor, meaning HE and HEAT aren’t as effective.

--Great gun depression and elevation values (-10/25).

CONS:

--Bad hull traverse rate.

--Gun is pathetically lacking in the penetration department.

--Obvious frontal weakspot that is easy to exploit.

--Turret can be penetrated by larger guns.

--APCR is usually necessary, to compensate for the bad velocity and pen of AP rounds.

--Will typically get trounced by higher tier heavies and any tank with a derp gun.

--Sub-par gun handling.

On the surface, the T14 looks to be an oversized Sherman with spaced armor....but it isn't. The T14 is a rather good heavy tank, and is capable of a great deal of work when utilized correctly. Well-angled frontal armor, spaced side armor, and a tough turret means that it is able to take a great deal of punishment and can sidescrape and reverse sidescrape well, along with going hull-down and peeking ridges, thanks to its excellent -10 degrees of gun depression, and while the gun isn’t the best, it can reload in a little over 3 seconds, meaning you can dish out a decent amount of damage too. The Pref.MM it gets also ensures that Tier 6 is as high as you’ll ever see, so you don’t need to worry about running into Tigers, KV-3s, and Black Princes. However, be ready to fire a healthy amount of APCR, as the velocity and penetration of the standard AP shells are awful, the APCR does a far better job at dealing out damaging shots. As well as this, the T14 has a great deal of speed as well, so it can take good positions early on and can outmaneuver some of its heavier rivals. Just bear in mind that your tank doesn’t traverse that well, so plan in advance whenever you flank an opponent.

At top tier, the T14 does an excellent job as a heavy. It has the armor to bounce a good deal of enemy shots that aren’t well aimed, and when you’re able to hide your frontal weakspot, the T14 can be a really tough nut to crack. Just watch out for derp gun-wielding tanks like the M4A1, O-I Exp., and KV-1S…their HE is lethal and will wear your down quickly. Other opponents like mediums and lights will find it hard to deal with you frontally, so you can be more confident in your playstyle!

At Tier 6, the T14 takes on the roll of a heavy support tank. Use HE from your 75mm gun to perma-track enemies and hold them there as your allies finish them off. Your APCR will come in handy here as well, and you can still penetrate some Tier 6 heavies and most other Tier 6 tanks. Be ready to switch between ammo types on a whim (Intuition does a good job here), as it will be necessary. In regards to your health and well-being, play cautiously and only go aggressive at the end of the game when you know you can win most of the fights you get into.

As far as crew skills go, start out with Sixth Sense, Deadeye, Controlled Impact, Situational Awareness, and Intuition. The 2nd round should be Recon, Repairs on Gunner and Loader, Clutch Braking, and Call for Vengeance. The 3rd round should have Repairs on the Commander, Snap Shot, Smooth Ride, Safe Stowage, and Repairs on the Radio Operator.

Ammunition should be about 35 rounds AP, 35 rounds APCR, and 20 rounds of HE.

For equipment, you should go with any modules that increase the performance of your gun. So, Vents, Rammer, and Gun Laying Drive would be excellent options.

For consumables, go with the usual suspects; Repair Kit, First Aid, and Auto Extinguisher. If you are feeling bold and want more performance, swap out the Extinguisher with Cola to get more fire rate out of your gun.

Some tips:

--The T14 does well alongside other Preferential heavies like the Excelsior, KV-220-2, and other T14s…so platoon with them when you can!

--Remember that while your armor may be tough, it isn’t bulletproof. Sidescrape and go hulldown when you can, as that will help hide your weakspots and increase your survivability.

--And, if the T14 doesn’t work for you, there are other Premium heavies that do a great job. The KV-220-2 gives you even more armor, and the Excelsior and Churchill III give you better guns. However, all of these have weak turrets and aren’t as mobile….so they are unable to go hull-down like the T14 can, and aren’t as fast.

Finally, here a few good games I had:

--My first T14 Ace with Kolobanov’s, Radley Walters’s, and Pascucci’s: http://wotreplays.eu...axmachine21-t14

--Radley Walters’s Loss: http://wotreplays.eu...axmachine21-t14

--Wickedly good use of the T14’s armor: http://wotreplays.eu...axmachine21-t14

So there you have it! The T14 in all its glory! Enjoy it, and I hope this helps you guys!

Thanks for the guide! I got a T14 from twitch prime and it sat unplayed for a while because it looks bad on paper and many people said it was bad. But my young son likes to watch me play and was always asking me to play it because he likes how it looks I think, so I took it out. I actually kind of like it, but I haven’t seen a ton of into on how to play it, so I appreciate the tips!

No problem! I hope you and your son enjoy it! And yeah, it does look pretty neat. Now....are you going to let him get behind the wheel some time? :child:

Around 1200-1300 combined to go up slightly or to maintain. If you manage anything above 2k combined, you'll go up by over .5% each time. Good luck, Boops! :honoring:

I have a friend that also plays - sometimes I’ll let him take my tanks into a training room against my friend’s tanks and go nuts. His favorite is the IS-7, probably because he got to hit a strv s1 with it at close range and set it on fire. He’s also getting pretty good at the tutorial missions. Maybe when he gets older I will let him play humans in the main game, for now he’s 6 and just likes shooting stuff and driving the tanks. It’s fun though - I let him pick what I play and we have a good time

The only thing you forgot to mention was that the gun handling is very meh.

Forgot to add that in....thanks!

EDIT: I'd forgotten how many times that gun was my ruination.......it depends on the battle. Up close, it does well. At range...it's disappointing. :sceptic:

I wonder why it's so high for a tier 5 that most people would consider to be "forgettable"?

Do you have a "Game Guides" topic where you keep links to these type of reviews?  This was a good, comprehensive review of a tank; would like to see what else you have

Oh i got this tank for free from the first Twitch Prime, really like it! :)

It is a 100 times better than the awful Church 3, that tank makes me want to kill myself, but the T14 is surprisingly enjoyable even tho the pen is low:great:

I've got the full list of reviews I've done on my profile. :) If you ever need to find a guide, look there! I typically 3-Mark premium tanks, and the T14 was the 12th premium I've 3-Marked. I also did the KV-1 with the 122mm howitzer. The ones I have right now are as follows:

1: Heavy Tank No. VI

2: VK 45.03

3: M4 Improved

4: KV-122

5: KV-5

6: Matilda IV

7: TOG II*

8: Chi-Nu Kai

9: KV-1 with 122mm howitzer

10: Skoda T40

11: Mauerbrecher

12: Strv m/42-57 Alt A.2

13: T14

I hope they help! :honoring: And thanks for the compliment!

Well, it's not just the damage that is somewhat high. It took me over 1470 Base EXP to get an Ace. Anything below that was 1st Class, even 1400 Base (had one game that was 1450 Base, and that was 1st Class). So....there are some really good players with T14s. :amazed:

Just a quick edit. I forgot to add in the good gun depression and elevation the T14 has! It's in there now! :P

Huh....never thought of that before. :amazed:

Typically, I teach through the guides I write. I would be open to it in the next couple weeks if it arises....college is almost over.
