If you were 50 feet behind the bush, there is a good chance that some OTHER enemy was lighting you up from a flank, and that the heavy shooting you was outside of your vision range while you were within his draw range.  Learning to shoot bad guys like that is about the only way to grind out the Comet btw.

there was no one on the flanks

recently, I have noticed, I am getting spotting way behind bushes..... this seems as if the bushes are not concealing me, even with high camo ratings... spotted today by a heavy, when I wasnt firing, not spotted, and back 50ft from the bushes....friends have been saying the same thing....it just happened again......

This has happened to me on my Strv's yet i've noticed large vehicles with lower camo ratings that are in my green view circle shoot and shoot and i can't spot them, as far as the concealment behind bushes is concerned maybe some bushes are kinda wonky when it comes to their concealment rating, for example isn't there supposed to be something wrong with the bushes on Fisherman's bay?

Nah, I noticed this today for the 2nd day in a row.  I rolled up behind a bush that normally conceals me and was spotted by someone who shouldn't have been able to.  It happened in the same bush twice now, and it happened well after I arrived behind the bush.  I know the mechanics and under "normal" conditions I should not have been spotted either time.  Something isn't quite right with some of the maps.

Yes this is happening to me too. On ruinberg the bush by the church for the south spawn isn't working at all. Every time I roll up to it I get spotted even in very stealthy tanks. Same thing on other maps but haven't had them enough times to check for consistency.

Isn't there an illegal mod floating around out there that removes foliage so you can see what's behind it?

It does not change camo rating of the bushes it removes. It merely removes the bushes from being rendered on the players client. The server is where vision mechanics are calculated.

I will add I have been wondering about spotting/conceal recently. I have had my manticore with 6 perks, camo directive, camo net, not moving, with binocs have some very fishy outspotting situations, or inability to spot tanks at all situation. I have set it up to be the best passive spotter I can (to try to get LT-15 for 260), and I am amazed at how bad it does..... course wheelies dont help the situation.

I've never seen a replay posted to the forums that didn't have an explanation based on spotting and camo mechanics.  That said, the answers are not always obvious, as the mechanics, while simple in and of themselves, interact in complicated ways.  The way WG models bushes and trees - where the underlying camo model does not correspond exactly to the visual model - can make things very unpredictable, on Fisherman's Bay for example.

I know that reducing the video detail rendering removes a lot of visual chrome.  Does it also remove all the bushes that do NOT contribute to camo but leave the ones that do contribute?

there are some bushes on some maps that i belive we see but are not counted in the game

I suspect they wanted to re model the map but were to lazy to do a good job and if they simply removed the bushes players would complain and make their life miserable

so they simply removed the mechanics for those bushes and the people that "KNOW" this take the opputunity to snip people using those spots thinking they are hidden from sight .. I know of a few of these spots from trial and error and even used the training room to verify my suspicions . .

This.

there are a lot of bushes and trees that were nerfed long ago, but the models were never changed.  It's no longer obvious from the visual cues.   It's become a trial and error thing, just like the mountain goating spots were.  If you know the secret spots you are golden.

how do you know who spotted you?

I make a living spotting tanks in unusual places, which I'm sure causes people to think that someone else is spotting them...

Turning off vegetation will leave any bushes that act as camo.

I play mostly tds and haven’t noticed any recent changes. Camo appears to be working as intended.

People that make these post clearly do not understand the spotting mechanics of the game.

There is nothing wrong and it is not broken... If you find you are spotted then the enemy has an angle on you or their "spotting" view range has more points then your camo/bush rating.

Seriously people, learn the mechanics before you yell "foul"

And to the OP with 53K+ games..  someone has learned about your spot and has found the counter to your play

any of the bushes we use have varying % of camo effect.and also some we may think do have camo....dont. and only by trial and error do we find out. it sucks but its how this game rolls.

as to some bushes LOSING any camo rating after patches...no idea. i just expect to be unpleasantly surprised. again it sucks but we have no indicator or cue as to ANY % camo from vegetation.

Who are the "WE" of whom you quote?

When I knock over a bush I understand I lose its camo.

Can you explain further what you are meaning just to clarify your point?

I understand it can be hard but I thank you.

Umm, how do you knock over a bush? Knocking over trees actually adds camo.
