Wow finally, someone talks sense. When did we all smoke so much of whatever Wargaming's peddling that we now think lootboxes are okay just because they're a "good deal"? They're still gambling, especially when WG puts rare tanks and crap into the pot.

If this event was advertised as "whenever you buy gold you have the chance to get some bonus gold, credits, etc" it would be fine. But because they add premium tanks, especially rare or expensive Tier 8 ones, into the pot, it's still gambling. But now you have the justification of "Oh well I'm getting my money's worth for gold!" to allow you to reach back into your pocket when you don't win a premium tank.

I understand that some people will have the self control to not do that - they'll just take whatever free stuff they get for the money they would've spent on gold anyway. But for every singular person who has that self control there are five others who do not - and that's not entirely their fault. The point of predatory tactics is that they work.

In fact, no, they are not gambling.

Loot boxes provide more in value, set by prices established by the provider over years, than you get in return for the money spent.   There's no risk of loss.   You are buying a package assured to give back more than you spent with the added potential of getting an item you covet.   Unlike loot boxes with other providers, you receive MORE than you spend, negating any possibility of risk in the equation.   While true you may not get the item you covet, you receive more in return than you spend -- at least in the past -- thus WG has done, perhaps surprisingly, a nice job negating such complaints by those with mild intelligence.

There's nothing predatory about giving you more than you spend.   There IS something predatory about the ludicrous prices WG lists ALL YEAR.   But not for loot boxes in the last two years.   Those are actually highly tilted in the favor of the player.   Making them the best and likely only time to actually spend on this game and get something worthwhile in the game.

Why the hell do they have to put news in the video? Is there a transcript of the video anywhere?

I am still trying to figure out that the IDF camo is just testing the waters for an entire IDF line.

you do realize they're basically not writing any code for this... it's the same as the past 2+ years... it's all a matter of what they choose to put in it

I'm out!

Figure, we'll probably have to hit a button to activate the vent to begin with, followed up with the bait and switch that occurred with the Action X last year, there's no way I'm going to spend a cent this year.

I'll take what little I get if and when I play and probably complain about it the whole time.

you do realize you've play 31k games, put up with arty for 8 years, put up with all the other malarkey this game can throw at you, and are posting on a pre-event forum.

addiction is a $%^&*

When is the holiday event supposed to kick off? It's December 7th, the Holidays are upon us.

Last year they started the loot boxes on the 14th of December I looked it up because I thought it seemed like they were late this year but I looked at last year and the previous year and last year was the 14th year before was the 13th if I remember correctly from what I read.

This has to be the height of stupidity. People genuinely piss their life away on this game...

Yes that is it. Making sure only your opinion matters. Seems legit. Both parties do that to sickening levels and we have that in wot too what a great time to be alive the age of intollerance (aka politically correct)

It would be nice to give us more time and more missions to actually earn enough ornaments to fill up the spaces.  I don't mind buying boxes once or twice during the season, but if it wasn't for them, I don't think anyone would have enough to earn a Holiday Tank Skin in the game.

It's so cute that you believe spending 2 or 3 hundred bucks for a Christmas gift to myself is equal to  ****ing my life away.

Occasionally, my wife and I spend more than that for one bottle of Chateau Margaux... is that a "bad" thing too ?

Are we allowed to pay for cinema tickets without your judgement falling on us ?

LOL Yeah I have literally pissed away more money in one year (when I was younger) by drinking than I have in 10 years of online gaming and all that booze ended up in the toilet... Not sure why people have such a hard time understanding "entertainment expenses" and seem to think everything someone else buys, must be an investment of some sort. Now that I ponder it a bit, probably spent enough money just on movies and movie rentals during my life, to purchase a few cars.

BTW if someone is struggling to pay their real bills, they shouldn't be spending money frivolously on games, movies, etc. For those of us who can manage our finances and have the disposable income, then it is no big deal.
