TL/DR;   Tit for tat.  ;)

Using Google Translate on this folks so bear with me.  This is also why the Link is the way it is folks.

States statistics so I'm guessing everything else will work same as if you let your XVM "subscription" expire.

We started an experiment with disabling the display of statistics in battle for anonymous.

At the moment, the order is as follows: if our server detects that the player has hidden his nickname, he loses access to the statistics of other players in the battle for the next 12 hours. Then the detection procedure is repeated.

Accordingly, in order to see the statistics of all players again, you need to open your nickname and wait for the access to resume (it will happen automatically).

We will also add relevant notifications in the game and explanations in your account.

The scenario is not final, subject to change.

I get why they're doing it, but interesting turn of events and it may go sideways on them so to speak.

And I'm sure this is why they're referencing experiment and that it is subject to change.

Either way...

Nice. I always wondered what they would do for someone who was running the anonymizer and was also running XVM. Good for them.

Seems fair.  You hide, therefore you can't see.

Totally fair enough.

Agreed.  Vanilla for one, vanilla for all.   None of that eating cake and having it too nonsense.

ETA:  That said, I think a lot of folks run vanilla anyway (Tsavo?) so they're already playing fair.

I don't disagree with that countermeasure, and I'd have been disappointed if WG didn't anticipate that ...

but I'm not getting any XVM data when I have the Anonymizer turned OFF

Otherwise, I think that's pretty reasonable IF/THEN logic

The note seems to indicate it isn't necessarily real-time, but the inquiry (does account use Anonymizer) turns off stats for 12 hours, not for that battle.  Then, when you disable Anonymizer after some period another check occurs, at which point the stats would be turned back on.

Pretty neat change tbh. Keeps people from cheating the system by seeing other's stats while not letting theirs be seen.

Props to the XVM devs for this!

I must be missing something in the text, cuz I'm having trouble understanding why you guys are thanking the XVM team for anything ...

XVM has been effectively leashed like a dog, and any work-around they come-up with will be an illegal one.

Not seeing how it would go sideways on them. If it only blocks out the stats visibility for a player using the anonymizer but allows all other functions to remain, ie, garage mods and equipment/crew return, then good for them.

I'm surprised that Wargaming didn't go 1 step further with this update and basically block all visible player names and stats on the opposing team for those using the anonymizer. If you want to remain anonymous then so be it, no double standard.

What with the Anonymizer on/off toggle-option and the IF/THEN XVM trade-off, this will work just fine after the wear-in period.

I think WG handled it well enough and I'm okay with it.

I strongly recommend to people I help that they run vanilla.

I'd like to see a 24hr period where they blocked stats instead of 12 but it's a good change either way.

This is what it appears to be.

WG did such a sht job at this that for anyone running XVM it is beyond obvious who is running the anonymizer and since vast majority of bad players who might use this don't give a damn, they won't even know it's there probably.  So odds are that in tier 8 and up that if someone is greyed out that means they are a good player.

I had my suspicions that WG would find a way to blunder this and it seems they have made it quite obvious.  GG WG.

It probably won't and poor wording on my part.  I'm guessing in the end they (XVM) are doing this to keep folks using it.  I'm going to also guess that more folks that want the stats will just turn the anonymizer off than dump XVM.   Then as you point out  there are those that like it's non stat components that will use it even though afaik are all available in modpacks without XVM.

They did say experiment and it's subject to change.  I don't see any downside for them as Nuclear pointed out, but I'm sure they're leaving room for that possibility.  Hence they're saying this is not final.  I think overall this will end up with more folks turning the anonymizer off to use XVM for stats than vice versa.  But not sure if that will impact them much after I read Nuclear's post and thought about it.

With that said I wouldn't be surprised to see them make it full time.

XVM knows they are on their last legs as more and more players who learn about it elect to run anonymizer. More folks will use anonymizer than xvm stats in due time.

Would suck to be coding for XVM as they go into a decline now. Disabling XVM for Anonymizer users is a pretty desperate (but admittedly fair) move. They see the writing on the wall.

GIVE ANONYMIZE A TRY!!!! You can always turn it back off if you miss the pretty xvm colors...

I run vanilla so I really don't care.  IMO, XVM and the showing of a players stats in game is what causes most of the toxicity in WoT.  I wish they would shut down, or not be allowed to access the server information.  If wargaming could encrypt that information it would be great.
