Hey guys,

Well I am returning to WOT after like a year or so....been trying to get the T55a ever since the campaigns started. Yea its been years, literally. It's my dream tank but I CAN NOT do HT-15...I've tried it in my E100, VK4502B, E75....heck even my KV-5....

I have concluded that German armor is not reliable enough, I can't sidescrape/bounce rounds consitently and yes I know all the strong and weak spots, anging, side scraping etc. I've been playing mainly German tanks for forever but I cannot reliable position myself to bounce gold rounds. German weak spots are too big, even strong spots can easily be overmatched with premium rounds and if you don't get that angle Juuuuuuust right it pens....:(

So I have decided to go with the Russian heavy line...Russian heavies have strong spots that ALWAYS auto bounce...I've noticed their weak spots are really small (compared to germans) and if you do the wiggle they're harder to hit. So what do you think is it smart going the Russian heavy line? I'm thinking an object 257 in a tier 8 match would just autobounce oodles and oodles of HP

Is there any Russian tanks you recommend that are best?

Any advice to get this mission complete would be awesome, thanks! :harp:

I didn't find the 257 to be that great armour wise. The pike nose makes it almost impossible to poke corners frontally and it has a very weak lower plate. Turret is good at medium ranges if you keep rocking when exposed since the top can easily be over matched by 91mm and up. The side armour profile of course makes it much better at bouncing side shots than most tanks but it's not like you want to sit sideways all the time. If you can reverse side scrape well then it can be quite effective though. I found I did best with it playing it like a T-10, it has more specific power though much worse terrain resists but it does get around.

If you're looking for armour try the 705 or maybe the ST-1 and go hull down a lot.

Try the 705A and try to side scrape from a distance.

You're playing the 257 wrong. The side armor is extremely troll - you can over-angle it against all but the largest Tier X guns, and it'll auto-bounce. You want to almost stick your tank out almost sideways and watch as your enemies rage over not penning your tank.

I did that in Type 4 on Campinovka... because some FV183 was using AP.

Major problem with sidescrapping is that most of shots absorbed by tracks don't count ad blocked, and no frontal armor can withstand current level of gold spam.

But 25% total damage on top of all that block will require quite unusual battle.

Three syllables: ST-I.

Though the match I got it done in I was reduced pursuing the last player on the enemy team (an Obj.268 on El-Halluf) to shoot me in the face!

Until you want to shoot them.

The bounce portion requires you to go somewhere relatively safe and far away from the Reds and then get spotted ON PURPOSE.

You need players to shoot all kinds of crap and bounce without any one being able to flank you.  So you need to be intentionally stupid early on a large map where you can use hard cover.  Karelia and Malinovka are your friends.

After that - you need to get lucky with a team that spots for you to shoot stuff for the own damage portion and then you can move out and clean up.

Should take about 150 games

I did the T-55 mission in the ST-I.  Came within 800 of doing the 260 mission in the VK45B.  Pretty sure I've met the primary requirements for the T-55 mission in the 705A as well.

I second this!  In my 257 with customers at range (200mm+) I’ll purposely drive out sideways (showing my side) because it’s tough at range to hit the small band of penetratable armor on the 257.

I ultimately finished it with the Maus but did rotate through VK4502B, VK7201 and E75. I did almost finish it with the VK4502B pre-UI update... I could have saved myself a ton of games if I had known I was close enough I could have driven out in the open and gotten blast by a 704 to up the totals.

I have had a few monstrous games with the IS-7 when it wasn't activated and 705s seem to be pretty boss at racking up blocked damage.
