Hi. I'm wanting to try out a tournament. Is there a simple way to disable mods during that time, or do I have to uninstall them completely?

Thanks

Legal mods are allowed in almost all tournaments.

JUST COPY YOUr CLIENT TO A NEW FOLDER and remove the mods. Now you have a moded client and an unmodded client and you can use either. Drag the individual WOT exe's to the desktop and name them modded and unmodded.

WOT's is quite portable as long as you have User/appdata/lroaming/wargaming directory on the computer.

No one with more than 1 brain cell has ever said they "don't believe unauthorized mods exist".

People do say "Illegal mods are not server hacks, but simply client mods".

People do say "Illegal mods are not all that powerful or prevalent, and are therefore not so concerning."

No one says "Illegal mods don't exist". That's just you spouting hyperbole.

WG even has LEGAL - CHEAT mods that are alright to use!!!

Read their article on mod use - There are legal cheat mods and illegal cheat mods(cough)

Its WG and the WoB(World of Bots) at its finest.

If a mod is legal, it's not a cheat.

And if a mod is a cheat, it's obviously illegal.

Georgie I think you need to get real and ask around .You do have friends that play this game? They are more prevalent than the users will admit. Hell I know of 4 in my friends list. So I guess I was lucky to find four "honest" players. Golly imagine that as an example of it being uncommon to see usage of unauthorized mods.LOL love to you Georgie:)

I have an extensive friends list, & I platoon with a large number of them routinely.

I have not noticed any of those players doing anything that makes me think they are cheating even a little bit.

Nor have any of them ever stated they were using illegal mods of any kind.

I do know that there were a couple of guys in a former clan of mine that were banned for using the "knock down" mod ( I never tooned with them, though ). So, players who cheat do (at least sometimes) get banned, & that's a good thing.

Prevalent ?  I don't think so.  Powerful ?  Not very, as far as I can tell by the descriptions of what they do.

Would illegal mod use make a baddie be good ?  No.  Would it make a good player into a Unicum ?  No.

Are players punished for illegal mods ?  At least sometimes, yes.

One can believe whatever they want and it does not change reality one bit.

Cheat mods have existed since the game was created.  WG allows them so they wont go away any time soon.

Watched a video of a player penning every shot at long distance without scoping in once to the tune of 10k damage ,last shot appearing to go just over the horizon for another pen...pretty powerful to me.Letting these players use cheat mods for free development is hardly fair to the players...wg knows all this but has no respect other then for money.

How does WG banning players who use cheat mods equal "WG allows them" ??

What date was that video from.  Many years ago the client was supplied with enough data and communication to allow some magic things happen.  Since then, the client gets less information and can no longer alter things on the server.  All a mod can do is work with what the server sends to it.  There were also mods that enhanced aim (a lot), but those are scanned for now when you run the game.  Keep in mind that there are still some pesky replay bugs that can create the illusion something happened that didn't.  Similar to the way packet loss causes ghost shells and complete apparent misses of targets at point blank range.

i wonder if players realize this game is not played on your PC, it is played on a remote server.  You can send movement, firing, and consumable activation commands and the server tells you what happens between your vehicle and the others on the server by sending video and audio data to your machine.  Your machine has none of the control that it would have if the game engine were actually installed on your PC/MAC.

Also a "cheat" mod is anything that is not allowed to be used.  If something is allowed by the rules, it is not cheating.  It may offend someone's sense of fairness, but it is not "cheating".
