Hi all, I'm fairly new to the game, though admittedly I signed up for WoT nearly after the launch and never played it until 4 weeks ago, now I'm hooked.

I've been trying to figure out my favorite play style, I think I really enjoy the brawling, hill battles and city alike, I got the premium 50TP pr. and really enjoying it, but I like the idea of the USSR tanks because of the crazy amount of bounces due to the turret shape. And I'm a big fan of high pen (I guess b/c I can guarantee damage on other heavies).

Any suggestions on what Tier X I should look for? I was thinking between the:

  • Obj. 277 (I like that I can easily branch into Obj. 705A)
  • S Conqueror
  • 60TP pr.

I wanted to get some of your seasoned experience in the matter, in case there is a tank I completely missed that would fit the play style. Many thanks in advance!

IS-7, best starting heavy tank line in the game. You learn so much along the way.

The first tank you should aim for and then branch out from there is the KV1, IMO.  You can go the the KV85 and then upwards to the A44 or across to the IS, or towards the KV2 and then the T-150.

This. Especially since KV-85 is eventually going to be removed from the tech tree and turned into a premium/reward tank, so it's a free tier 6 that you can use for crew training.

OP, your best bet is to go for the IS-7 first, by way of IS-3 (which also gets you to the Obj 277, more of a 'heavium' ) and KV-1. The IS line is quite dependable and forgiving, and easy to play, making it a great choice for less experienced players learning the fundamentals.

Anything not German is a good choice

Thanks for this info guys, I appreciate it. Btw I noticed that the armor on the 430U Med is nearly more than the 277 heavy, is that so or did the site get hacked lol (or did the game just purposely made them so similar).

I mean, if the 430U has more armor and higher DPM, why 277?

He's apparently focusing on the armor aspect of heavies, which makes sense... which is why he is asking about the 430u.

To OP... 430u is also a great choice, one of the best tanks in game like 277.  Look at the rest of the tanks in those lines and pick either.

OP medium Russian Tonk does not care that it was mistakenly labelled as a "medium".  It has Stallinium approved armor and a 1200w stereo as standard! More hardbass and vodka for everyone!

The 430U is probably the best "fast heavy" in the game without spending money on something premium.

I'm really loving the double barreled heavies.  I have the premium, but i really like the IS-2 ver 2 (tier 8).  I find it very forgiving, quick loader, optional big alpha, surprisingly good armor and quick.
