Going through RMC (Royal millitary College, I'm Canadian) for software Engineering. Then I'm going to be an officer in the armored (Tanks) forces.

*and the shout goes out*....JOHNNY BOAR!
Those things were monsters!
About  3 days into into one excercise we were in some forrest, set up in lager, shout goes out Johnny Boar!. Im standing on the top deck of a 113, glance over just in time to see the monster run up the side of the apc and jump a tree trunk lying on the ground...its shoulder was higher than the deck of the track...so close I could touch him. I remember one beady eye looking at me, a monstrous snout and some BIG hunking teeth.

Another time later,
Pulled Miesau Depot duty Xmas eve once, took a full rotation to walk check the bunkers twice. Which was bad enough, at night in the woods with the only illumination being our flashlights and the solo light fixture over the bunker access doors.
But the german contractors were allowed to hunt the property (for boar) so in addition to sporadic gunshots thru the night, Fresh snow on the ground on the first time thru...then the second time thru, Boar tracks all over the place crisscrossing over our foot prints....Our imaginations were working overtime and all I could think of were those big hunking teeth... I remember thinking, *I need a bigger gun*

HAHA man those things were insane and they would charge anything they saw as a threat LOL!! Crazy ass pigs...I must say though, they are quite tasty as breakfast meat. I have had wild boar a few times while I was stationed in Germany and it was excellent. I swear you can taste the wild in it!!!!

That is too bad about the back operation. Maybe it was a blessing in disguise man. Sometimes we never see how or why things go the way they do.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't a blessing in disguise, but yeah, sometimes life gets in the way....
