Well, i started as Armored Vehicles and was eventually put into the Combat Engineers during the Vietnam conflict (notice i did the politically correct thing and said (CONFLICT) ) to most of my buds and myself, I preferred the Armored - Tanks and Artillery(which i did) over digging up mines and blowing things up as a fill in for the real job of B - Power.  Love the game and wish I found it earlier in the cycle of development.

also like to correct the  non military view  there are only 3  branches of the military   ARMY-NAVY-AIR FORCE  

the marine corps is part of the navy (dont believe me ask a marine to see his ID card )  Also the Puddle pirates er uh Coast Guard is normally under the Dept of Transportation (now Homeland  (LOL) Security   in time of war they Part of the Navy

now before  all you puddle pirates start screaming  at me   I will also say  these guys are warriors  too  try jumping off a helo  into 60 foot waves in sub zero weather  or  Chasing a  Drug boat shooting at you at over 100 mph they are no different then the big 3  they might not like the things their forced to do but they have to do them

Navy vet and tin can sailor (never made it into a 'war,' unless Lebanon, Grenada, reflagged tankers in the gulf and Panama count).  General quarters (battle stations) was aft gun mount (last of the navies manned gun mounts), you want fun have a five-inch (152mm)54 caliber sending a 77 pound round downrange (14 miles we could (and did) hit a sheet of plywood for a target) going off a foot from your right knee!  That will wake you up!

Remember the Marine Corps psalm; 'for yea though I walk through the valley in the shadow death, I shall fear no evil for I have naval gunfire support at my side!' (Remember a tin can can put out 42 of those 77 pound rounds a minute)

I don't have a military background, but my father was a rear gunner in Lancasters in WWII with the RAF, and then an instructor at the RAF parachute school (to connect with the OP). After emigrating to Australia in 1949, he ended up in the new RAAF parachute school, and trained a lot of the early Australian commandos.

19 Kilo was my first MOS .. then a few others .. retired a Marine with the MOS of 0151 .... nothing beats riding into War other then jumping into it.

USCG, tank enthusiast. Much as I love tanks, I am proud and loving the USCG.

Started out as a 13B, but got re classed as an 11B10, played around in the Guard for 5 years, decided that I didn't like being a Grunt part time, so I would probably absolutely despise it full time.  So I thought about it and wondered where the best place to fight a war was from.  Decided that was a submarine, and I also figured that being a very poor swimmer, if you got into deep doo doo figured that'd be the best place to be, because when that torpedo shatters the hull, it doesn't matter how well you can swim.  That, and I read to many damned Tom Clancy books growing up.  Nowhere near accurate.

I served on a cougar crew for 3 years in south alberta light horse after high school. they've retired the vehicle i think. the unit has gone all recce and did away with the fighting vehicles.

I never really had any interest in actual combat experience though. I wanted to be a heavy equipment operator and the local economy was in recession. joining the army and learning to drive the cougar got enough experience onto my resume that i was able to get a job running a track hoe.

My official MOS was 11BC2(Dragon ATGM Gunner)But actually never fired another one after leaving Ft. Benning in Dec. '84. First duty station was with the 5/16 Inf. 1st ID(Big Red One) at Ft. Riley, Ks. and last duty station was with 2/4 Inf 56th FA(Pershing)in Neu Ulm, West Germany(security for the Pershing II tactical nukes). So I have a mix of Mech. and Light Infantry experience.

RAF - 15 Sqn RAF

I was in the Navy - F-4J RIO (hence the Avatar), after that I changed to Aircraft Maintenance Officer. My last tour was with a Tactical Air Control Squadron. The TACRON sent Detatchments out with Amphib Groups to control the Amphibious landing zones air space.

Royal Electrical Mechanical Engineers  1957 - 1970 Bovington-Kuwait-Bahrain-Aden-Sharjah-Libya-Kenya-Germany. Chasing and repairing Comets-Centurions-Conquerors-Chieftains-M40's-M44's-Saracens-Saladins-Humber pigs-432's.   It was all so long ago. but I would not have missed it for the world, and I have retained my love of tanks ever since. I love playing WOT but cant help wondering if all those whining mongrel's crying on the forums have ever faced real adversity instead of a few insignificant problems with, which after all, is just a game.

Welp..I was the schmuck on the Pad. I pulled tower rotation once, CAS sucked anyway ya looked at it. But I think Pad duty was worse.
