He's not firing HEAT folks.  Though that may be an unmarked edit in his opener.

OP even if you're not firing HEAT the 54 is one of the worse 9s in terms of making credits.  Reminds me of the SU-101 at T8.

If you're trying to run it without flinging a lot of HEAT the gun leading to the 62A is the better option imo though you do give up a little depression.  -5 on it versus -6 on the HEAT gun IF irc.

Also if you're in a rush because of the sandbox changes don't be...

Correct no Heat. The sales (consumables equipment), BM and 15% off Tier 8-10 have left me no choice but to be frugal. Furthermore SirFoch and Taugrim make a point of not using prem and if they do implement the sand box changes i would like to take advantage of the extra hp. All in all it says, i should work one weak points and aiming. I would content myself to play lower tiers while i get better, but that is where those stupid 5x missions screw me up. I do have a chance of getting the T-62a if they don't clean the tech tree anytime too soon, I won't spend 22mill + on a reward tank (unless i have a bank like SirFoch).

Thanks for the link on the Sandbox test, changes are coming, someday?

Heat 54 is one of the most unprofitable tanks in the game, you have awful standard pen and on top of that it costs over 1000 credits a pop. This means that when you bounce(and you will alot) it's a double whammy. That's why alot of people fire only heat out of it.

Yep, I have pretty much always spammed premium ammo in my T-54, even going back several years, and have never made any money with it. On the other hand, I can run regular ammo in the Cent 7/1 or Leo PTA and usually make a little bit of a profit, and be just as effective if not more so.

I play by a simple formula....
4-5 games in a tier 10 vehicle.
then 2-3 games in a tier 8 premium (SkorpG or Lowe)

You'll make credits if you have premium.   You'll have to adjust the formula for play w/o premium, but you can still make money going back and forth between tiers 9, and 10.  then Swapping back to a Tier 8 premium.

Firing premium ammo in tier 8+ tanks are often necessary to prolong the livelihood of your tank, which in turn allows you to make more credits.

I was free-to-play player before, and even then I would carry some premium ammo for the occasions to absolutely making sure that I can finish an opponent.  There is nothing worse when the penetration low rolled on a 50% chance to pen shot that would have finished off the opponent.  It would also severely limit the plays you can make as T-54.

Intuition can help if you switch ammo frequently to maximize your damage and profits.  Queuing next ammo type can also help in many situations.

Can you upload a "typical" game that we can comment on?  Otherwise you're going to get the general "don't spam premium ammo, don't use premium consumables, buy consumables on sale, do more damage, take less damage" spiel that, while correct, probably doesn't help.

That said, in general, an average player can't expect to make significant profits while exclusively playing tier 9 and 10.  You need to mix in tier 8 premiums to make majority of credits.

I'm a fairly good player and while I got modest net profit during tier 10 spamming in Dynasty Wars, I wouldn't consider doing that long term.  I still need to play tier 8 premiums to roll in the credits.

I don't use gold rounds much as 99.9999% of my rounds fired are standard, or premium consumables other than the auto fire extinguisher, which is probably why I suck.  Playing the Obj 140 the times I have if I win I'll make a small profit, and if losing around -6k in the red.  The worst was a game on Airfield I totally screwed the pouch doing literally nothing on a lose and was -16K.  The Obj 430 at T9 the games I played I can'r remember losing any credits win or loss.

If you have Credits Personal Reserves/Boosters be sure to use them, and stock up on consumables when they're on sale so you won't have to pay resupply costs

The way to keep filtering players back down to lower tiers is by having tiers 9 and 10 not be as profitable as the others.

Tiers 7 and 8 are more profitable, and if you really want to earn money play Arty :P

Breaking even makes sense but not losing credits in a win, Profitability is pretty broken and needs a changes or a fix, if you've ever watched one of those insane replays with like "8 Kills 10,000+ damage hardcore carry" the player loses a ton of credits, that just seems wrong, why should you be punished for carrying the team to Victory? if you single-handedly saved the team you should be heavily rewarded...

All valid points. The repair costs at 9-10 are the hidden credit black hole.

You're going to have to do more than 1000hp of damage at tier 9 to make money. I'd aim for at least your HP and hope for some assist damage. When you start using premium consumables and ammo then forget it. I usually make money but it's not a lot, I certainly wouldn't want to have to only play tier 9 and save up to buy anything.

That's because most of the time such insane replays are made by players who shoot premium rounds and use premium consumables. They give you advantage in battle but cost you a lot more than regular ammunition/consumables. It's also part of the game.
