Yes, it is. It's a perfect mix of TOS and TNG. It's a little transparent at times but the story is overall pretty solid. I was very skeptical after the disgrace of Discovery but so far they've done it more or less perfect.

To be honest, I think I might have to agree with you. As I mentioned in the other thread, this adds a few more pieces to the puzzle that is "The Star Trek Universe" and I find this quite exciting. It's almost like seeing someone draw a really nice line drawing. Someone else comes along and adds color. Finally, another person shows up and adds shading and depth. The previous Star Trek series for me, were the line art and color. Now with Picard, I am starting to see some of the depth. I can't say for sure though, whether or not this series will keep upright or start to stumble. Time will tell.

It's been pretty good so far. I just wonder how long the story can be carried along.

There is no such thing as "the best Star Trek" anything.

Lol, actually... after about the 3 minute mark I agree with a lot of that.

Agreed. While some of his commentary was justified, much of it was flat out wrong. He glossed over so many details and drew so many inaccurate conclusions that I couldn't be bothered to finish watching the video. How the bloody hell do people think that Picard is a wuss when he deliberately avoids trying to hurt others, even at the risk of his own life? This is still the same Picard of old. The man who embodies the spirit of Star Trek. Just because he is elderly and can NOT engage in extreme physical activity does not mean that he is MENTALLY weak. Dear lord, I just don't understand what is rolling through the minds of people like this commentator and the posters who have agreed with him in the comments section of his YouTube page. I will agree with him and others on one thing, however. For the other characters (aside from Picard who is already there) to adhere to the Spirit of the Star Trek Universe, they are going to have to aspire to become better versions of themselves. I hope this series will see that through.

Let it not be said that I am a person who can't admit he was ever wrong. Boy, was I ever wrong about Picard. Seven episodes in and I finally had to stop watching this train-wreck. It seems like every solution to a problem in this series, involves casually killing someone. This goes WAY beyond the darkness that was hinted at in the earlier series. On top of it all, I have noticed that with perhaps only a couple of exceptions, the people doing the killing are all women and the people being killed are mostly men. This has more of a feel of some kind of dystopic snuff porn hell bent on directing hate towards men. I don't know what is running through the minds of the writers and the director of this series, but I am pretty damn sure that Roddenberry would, if he could, crawl out of his grave to strangle the entire lot of them. Time to find something else. The three great Sci-Fi franchises, Dr Who, Star Trek, and Star Wars, have all become sludge.

It's not Star Trek at all. And even if it were it would be by far the worst one. I think a five year old SJW wrote this. Just an angry at everyone story filled with magic tech and plot holes
