So the Tier IV US Medium Sherman got added a while back and almost no content has been said about it which I find to be interesting. Certainly, you'd think having a Tier IV would have some hype around it at least.

So how good is this tank tier-for-tier? Potential best tank at Tier IV, or just another tank for new players to grind through? Derp gun or M3?

What do y'all think about this tank?

Overhyped.

From my experience, it misses first shot then I kill it with my B2 before it reloads :]

Play 50 games in it before you declare your judgment. Just curious. Consider it a challenge even.

The things I'm curious is, are these derps working poorly because the crews in them are bad? In other words, if you had a maxed out crew and equipment, would they be competitive?

Also, I believe the M3 Gun can be quite decent too so let's not limit this tank's performance to purely the derp.

No, I won't play it. Playing low tier derps is not a challenge. At best it is relaxation.

Killing Matilda's with B2, now that's a challenge.

T6 105mm is not dangerous against opponent that knows how to not get hit. With HP buffs it lacks auto-aim one-hit-ko capability, even if it hits and takes half of my HP it is dead in water for ~12 seconds.

Small guns are just average for that tier, for sustained fire I find Lee's more dangerous.

T6 biggest strength lies in frontal armor, it is quite hard when top tier and might buy enough time to reload.

T6 might have seal clubbing potential, but any low tier trash with pimped out crew can do it.

Of course some would say silly things like "ambush", "let them come", "hull down", "positioning", etc. But competent opponent won't let it work.

Luchs will rip it to pieces, Matilda will just stoically roll through, B2 will either out trade it 5 shots for one miss or devour it in close combat, Alecto/M8A1 will obliterate it, and it won't even see Hetzer coming.

It's a mini KV-2 at tier 4, an absolute monster if played right. The main drawback IMO is that gun handling is trash if you aren't brawling.

Aren't most of the maps at Tier IV very close quarters anyway?

Steppes certainly offer lots of space :]

Even Himmelsdorf has plenty flanking oportunites, have in mind how small low tier trashcans are. What in tier 10 is single line corridor, for machinegun toys is plenty of space for brawl.

Well, look at what is already there.  You have the E8 and the E2, better tanks what I have seen.  Want derp? E2 baby!  can have a lot of fun, OP top tier.

I hope 44 games are close enough to 50 for you. Using it with the 105 makes it play like a heavy. You need to aim quite a while, and it isnt that fast, and well that's all the downsides I can think of. The tank and turret turns fast enough to keep up with the tier, and the hull armor is tough enough to bounce most tier 4s. The turret armor is great, and due to the amazing gun depression, the tank is a beast hull down. The alpha damage and low armor at tier 4 makes it easy to do 1k damage games with the T6 Medium, and in the right hands it can be a capable opponent against many tier 5s or 6s.

Relatively painless trip up to the Real Sherman.  Satisfied FTP driver here.

Well, the other account is a satisfied FTP driver.

I haven't played the T6, but last night it was good enough for a guy on the other team to kill me and 5 other players, single handedly winning a battle that should have been a one-sided rout. He was using the 75mm for what it's worth.

Gun handling is terrible but as others have said most fights are going to be brawls for the most part anyways. Handling if fine if you are camping waiting for a shot though so you can derp snipe to a certain extent.

Which is why I believe the 75mm may actually be the way to go on this tank.

For what it's worth, I also prefer the 76mm over the derp on the Jumbo.

Overhyped, speed isn't great and armor comes handy against lower tiers but it's almost useless against same tier, P.26/40 can frontally pen it with HE.

On top of that the derp takes forever to reload even with a good crew and equipment, so not bad, it's a lot better to be in a T6 than in a vz 39 or 14 TP, but nowhere close top dog territory.

This here.

It's a low-tier derp, and a very strong one at tier. It has all the advantages and disadvantages of other low-tier derps. The T6 can deal a lot of damage, and hey, it's a Sherman.

The comments about it being outplayed by a better player in a better tank...well, yeah. It's a one-trick pony, and like all the one-trick ponies in WOT, and there are a lot of them, you have to be able to play to its strengths and minimize its weaknesses, and even then...

To me, this sort of thing is the whole point of low tiers. Let's try all sorts of stuff and see what you can make work. It's fun. :)
