As the title asks...  I'm very new to Arty, have the entire U.S. line, and love the M53/M55.  People in the community have told me that'll cover Campaign 1 and the U.S.&U.K Bloc for Campaign 2, but that Russian, French and German Arty are necessary to complete Campaign 2.  I'd rather not waste resources going all the way up each line if The Tier Xs aren't the best of their line to complete those missions.  So, what are the best Arty Tiers per nation - like the M53/M55 at Teir IX of the U.S. line (the M44 is good to, but I do way better with the M53/M55)?  I'd like to get them this weekend as they are all 15% off and Arty doesn't usually go on sale.

Thank you all for sharing your experiences and your opinions!!!

I'm not an arty player but I'm at a point where I need to get serious about completing the arty missions so have looked into this recently.

First of all, there's no need for German arty or French arty as there's no arty missions in Bloc or Coalition that I can see.  Point it out to me as I might have missed something.

In Alliance, the M53/M55 will be more than enough to do all of the Alliance missions.

In Union missions, the S-51 should be enough but according to what I see people saying, the SU-14-2 makes it way easier.

That's my understanding.

German tier ten, the gwe100 is pretty good.

French tier nine, the auto loader at tier ten gets annoying.

Russain I think the 261 is pretty nice.

Well, you dont need french arty at all.

For the Excalibur, the only line that requires arty is Alliance (US/Brit). 53/55 is a good choice.

For the Chimera you only need US and Soviet arty. I did the soviet one with the tier 7 using the small gun.

For the 279e. You dont need french arty for the Coalition branch, but I used the tier 8 to get the critical hits mission done.

Soviet Tier VII SU-14-1 or Soviet Tier VII S-51?

The obvious choice if you don't want to grind is the SU-14-1, which now just costs credits.  It has a good choice of guns and a big 203mm mortar which punks smaller tanks - and never has to face T10.  It's not *quite* at the T8 sweet spot, but has the same level gun and better matchmaking.  For silver. not XP.

Yea, you will need tier 9 or 10 if you want to complete them in a timely fashion, especially the stun missions.

Tier 8 and tier 9 are the sweet spot for arty missions; especially tier 9s with their stock guns for stun missions.

Sure, you can do missions in lower tier arty, but tier 9 is the most consistent.

I got quite a few 3K+ stun assist games while playing tier 9s; the FV3805 has an 18 second reload* with 15 second stun times for spicy near-permastun.

to finish the campaign you need the tier 10s so u get in games with more hit pints to farm..  But this also ensures that you will be in a game with multiple wheeled tier 10 light tanks that 90% of your team will ignore and let come Straight through your lines and spot you within 10 seconds of the game starting so enjoy...

You can also do  The campaigns with the tier 9 American artillery it is that goood

Any 200mm+ gun with premium ammo to increase radius will do it.  T9-T10 make it easier, but there are lower tier options that fit that description as well.

if you want to complete the missions, tier 8 is the lowest for the final set on the 279e.  and honestly faster firing and faster aiming guns work better on the stun as well as the damage missions because the maps where folks are forced to glomm up and get multi-splashed while also being exposed en masse to arty aren't that common.

some of us replying in this thread have had our 260's and / or our 279e's a while now so we're not talking in hypotheticals.

That was my entire point.  :)  T10 isn't required and a ROF of 1.something doesn't help, either when you just want stun.  I found that I did much better overall with my T8 UK SPG than my T10.
