Howdy Boom Jockeys!

Two Tier VIII American medium tanks are about to enter the Supertest: the T42 and the T77.

The essential difference between these newcomers is their armament. The T42 carries a 90mm gun able to make 6.59 shots per minute, each dealing 280 damage points on average. The armor penetration amounts to 190 mm for the basic AP round and to 268 mm for the special APCR shell. While the gun’s dispersion and aiming time aren’t very special (0.36 and 2 seconds, respectively), its depression is outstanding: -10 degrees.

Turning to the T77, it belongs to a completely different subclass of medium tanks due to its 120mm gun sporting an autoloader with a 3-shell drum. It takes 38 seconds for this gimmick to fully reload and the time between shots is 2 seconds. Each successful hit subtracts 360 points from the enemy’s HP pool; the gun’s dispersion is 0.37 at 100 m while its aiming time is 2.3 seconds. As for the armor penetration, it’s 215 mm for the standard APCR round and 270 mm for the special HEAT shell.

In terms of mobility, the T42 and the T77 are almost identical, with a top speed of 51.5 km/h and 48 km/h, and a specific power of 15.6 hp and 16.3 hp per tonne, respectively. Also, both vehicles have the same view range: 380 m.

That said, the T42 is better survivor due to its turret having a ‘bouncier’ shape and up to 216 mm of armor at the front. The T77 has only 152 mm there. Both tanks have an HP pool of 1,350 points.

As both tanks are typically American mediums—reasonably slow but with decent firepower—they can perform the same tasks on the battlefield, but each delivers on these in its own way. While dishing out damage, the T42 can use terrain folds and rely on its gun’s stats allowing for comfortable gunplay. The T77 has good burst damage. To realize the full potential of both vehicles one needs to use their strengths to the utmost.

Enjoy!

The burst potential on the T77 is absolutely broken at tier 8, and it's sad that I even need to say that.

EDIT: It's sad that the devs don't already know that.

I was excited by the headline, but then I opened the page and saw that it was new tier 8 premium (probably) tanks, rather than a tech tree.

I disagree.

The burst dmg is ok. Sure, its better than progetto or bourrasque, but you have a 38 second reload...thats very long, also dispersion and aiming time are not really that good. There are other tier 8 with way better burst dmg (50100, lorraine, somua...this last one is really broken xD)

Maybe the T77 can replace the horrible T69 in the tech tree?

Lots of varied American tier VIII premiums...too bad we couldn't have a second US med line instead.

Actually, with the 90 MM it's quite good.  I happen to like mine.  Now I will agree that the stock gun is really bad and WG should be ashamed of themselves to putting on it.

I can't wait to not be able to put my t57 crew in the prem that matches the line . Also kinda funny how one of the nations with only 1 tier 10 med has the most tier 8 prem meds.

If they make the T77 a tier VIII premium tank, I'd buy it. I was actually thinking about it today in the game before I read this post as they have French and Swedish autoloaders that are premiums, why not American???

*looks at the Lorraine 40t, Emil 1, Emil 1951, AMX 50 100 and Somua SM* No. No I dont think it is.

Im all for more American comfort, but really is depressing that these could ahve been tanks on separate tech tree lines... (actually the T77 would be a good tier 10 tank, given that it was a T57 turret on an M48 hull) that being said... I'll definitely buy at least one of them.

If only WG could develop new maps like they develop new premiums

PLEASE WG LET THESE BE TECH TREE TANKS FOR ONCE, for god's sake no more Premiums, how about a new tank line?

If both of these come to the game and are standard tanks i'd play often again to grind and get them.

Hoo boy wouldn't that be a TRAGEDY, an American tank that's actually too good for once    have you somehow never seen any of the several past "broken" autoloaders, Italian auto-reloader or the IS-3A reverse auto-reloader even.

Another day and the devs who say they don't have enough info to make more US lines continually make more US vehicles as premium or reward vehicles.

Pathetic.

They don't care about the US tree and what they can give to the NA and American armor players that don't need $$$ or play through tedious events to get. They only care about milking the NA server and butchering US vehicles.

"More" American medium tanks? No. More like more things to charge us money for or hoops to jump through. Add more vehicles to the tech tree ffs. There is literally only ONE non premium Tier 8 heavy in the entire US tree. For the third oldest nation in WoT, this is just pathetic.

So the T77.  That's a Tier X T57's turret and gun on the Tier X M48 Patton's hull.  That's literally what the entire project was.  So either you or preferably your communist boss tell my how a Tier X turret and a Tier X Hull magically make a Tier VIII premium tank?  Why don't you go slap the IS-7's turret on a T-62 and put it in as a Tier 6 while you're at it?

Oh wait, I forgot.  You people don't care.  It's possible you never have cared.  Well if you don't care to make a consistent game, I don't care enough to pay money for said game.  Screw you, Screw Tanks, and Screw your worthless company.

I love it when others believe Wargaming is pulling the concept of the T77 tank out of thin air....https://tanks-encyclopedia.com/coldwar-us-120mm-gun-tank-t77/

I'm disappointed that this isn't leading to a new tree of tanks but rather even more Yankee premiums.  Yay?  I guess?

Gimme new American branch, please
