Between 9:00 PM and 9:25 PM CDT I experienced "rubber banding" issues during game play.  I had a ping between 45-66ms which for my internet connection speed and PC configuration is unusually high.

Yep, Im getting this too. Usually less than 30 ping with no packet loss, now constant rubber banding.

Guessing someone forgot to feed the hamster / pay telcom

Having the same issues. Game is unplayable right now. Having shells go through tanks and continuing in a direction seconds after releasing the button. Ping jumps from <50 to over 150+ and the green dot keeps changing to red. I'm submitting a ticket. Maybe if enough people do they will hand out some compensation for the "down time."

What do you really expect from Russians? They are always behind the world by 30-40 years

Same server performance issue between 11:15 AM and 11:30 AM CDT.  Basically unplayable due to video "rubber banding".  Total waste of using Personal Reserves.

Are the below IP addresses correct? If yes, then WOT has major problems.

92.223.56.14, 92.223.56.15, 92.223.56.16, 92.223.56.17

Happened again this morning before 9am Eastern for about 45 minutes after the reset and now again this evening.  Nearly unplayable... going from 30 ms to 360 ms.... no rhyme or reason and my 200MB link is up and fine to multiple sites including some in Chicago...  I think similar to blitz a while back it appears to be last leg or two at their host. Blitz having same issues atm

\Dug into the problem... Its network in Chicago most likely the WG hosts routes...

Update: Checked with multiple players on US East coast (networking folks who play).  All see same thing with network problem at route located at DC. All games affected for routing through telia.  All traces show same hops as problem.

Same here, PST, tried everything on my end.  I had to stop playing, really bad rubber banding.

UPDATE:  I waited a couple of hours and once the population went down on the USC server to about 14000, the game was back to normal.

I got up early and tried some matches this am, USC server population around 7000, and the game was flawless.

i will try again tonight during peak hours, around 1800hrs PST-population/17000, and see how the game flows.

Currently the game is unplayable on my end. Terrible FPS and worse Ping. I have 100+ mpbs connection, hardwired to a new high performance computer. These repeated issues are not likely to encourage any more investment in this platform. Good timing as well because for the same year's worth of Premium time, I can purchase FS 2020 Premium and focus on honing approaches and landings at airports I will never get to visit behind a real yoke.

Edit for another Reboot: Simply unplayable.

Really WG? Still having issues...  Now server and net are "up" Server has 50ms times (slowish) which has not changed for 15 minutes so its obviously wrong/hung but is not accepting any connections.  4k lucky souls appear to be connected but normally there is 7k+ at this time of day.

*Finally made it in for an actual game!!!!!! woo hoo  only took half a DAY wg

The issues are still happening a t2:00 PM  CDT. "Rubber Banding" big time.  I suspect it's being caused by preloading and downloading activities.   WOT needs to limit the number of concurrent update downloads from the server.

This is wasting Premium time.

I live 29 miles from the NA server location. The game has been unplayable for me yesterday and today. Usual ping times have gone from 10-15ms to 50 to 100 with 5% packet loss in game now makes it rubber band big time. I can play on the SA server with ping times of around 140ms without packet loss so there is something wrong with the NA server or network there.

NA Server

Ping statistics for 92.223.56.14:
    Packets: Sent = 118, Received = 112, Lost = 6 (5% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 12ms, Maximum = 31ms, Average = 21ms

SA Server

Ping statistics for 92.223.10.13:
    Packets: Sent = 144, Received = 144, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 142ms, Maximum = 161ms, Average = 147ms

OK, define "rubber banding" please?

Is that the same problem I'm having? My tank now and then jerks a bit back-and-forth or side-to-side. Opposing tanks seem to "teleport" short distances or suddenly shift back and forth.

Game is virtually unplayable.

I love how there are multiple threads citing significant game playing issues across the entire NA region including Guido who lives 29 miles from the NA server.  These threads have been up for what 2 days now?  Yet in spite of this it doesn't even warrant a response from a WG moderator to acknowledge the problem.  That is simply amazing to me.  Your customer base cannot play your game and you provide zero response to probably what 50 or 60 forum messages calling this problem out?

Yes, that is "rubber banding".

It is due to packet drops between you and the server.

  • Basically, a packet of data from your client to the server - I am moving forward
  • That packet never makes it.
  • Also, a packet from the server - Player X has moved outside of your reticle
  • That packet never makes it.

The result is you seemly do not move, then a second later "teleport" to where you would have been had you been visually moving that whole time and the player you had fully aimed and saw your shell go right through the middle of their side, was not actually in line of your shot when you fired.

It has been happening to me for the past few days too.

However, from running the WGCheck_NA tool, Network tab, I could see zero packet loss within my LAN, my ISP's hops, and out into the backbone, but a 17~25% dropped packets over 20 minutes at the NA server 92.223.56.14.

So, it is certainly on WG's end and not any reboot your router or do a clean-boot thing on my end. (and yes, I did every possible local trouble shooting trick)

Wow-still no response from wargaming. I will resist spending money on this game now until they respond, in public. I have honestly had it. I invest SIGNIFICANT funds across accounts and games and am unable to play.   That is ... ummmm, FRAUD.

Interestingly I do NOT have this issue with my Euro, Asian or Russian accounts lol!!!!! Its purely cheap a 5 5 hosting contracts

Thanks everyone for sharing,

I thought it was just me going spare. I'm playing from South Africa on the NA server for many years, so a bit of lag is to be expected. However, the kind of rubber banding you describe is new for me and distinct, and only started recently. Actually, it is worse that proper lag - or high ping. I can still play competitively with up to 350 ping and the occasional lag spike.

But the constant rubber banding does render the game unplayable - it reduces the ability to peak, avoid objects, drive straight and backwards etc.. to a very low level. Hitting anything without employing the auto-aim (which can overcome some of the server lag issues) is very hard. And unlike lag spikes, it never lets up.

Just to check - given that I am in South Africa - I tried logging into my EU wargaming account to play a few games. Totally different, the rubber-banding issues were not there and game play was normal.

So I will just switch from my NA account until it is resolved. Luckily, I have the EU account as backup. But it would be great if the issue could be addressed, or a notification that it has been (or is being) resolved.

Best wishes,

All the packet loss must be a rehearsal for the 2020 mail in election.

Spoiler

I rarely play WOT but late last week at WOWS I was having the same problems others are describing here. I eventually noticed on the game center page the next update for WOWS was preloading so I went and watched TV for while and let it complete. After that no problems so I have now turned off the auto preload feature.
