This is a computer regenerated simulation of an F-14 Tomcat at an airshow.  In other words, this airshow actually occurred and this F-14 Tomcat actually performed these maneuvers! What an amazing plane!

Brickmania is a custom LEGO set builder with many cool military models (and other things like NASA, etc).  Their kits are very intricate, but also rather expensive.  They make a lot of custom pieces).  I think their F-14 Tomcat was listed as $725.... YIKES!

Luckily for us, Cobi exists.  Blocks are compatible with LEGO if you find you need spare parts or want to customize the models.  This company makes tons of lower cost military models of land, sea, and aircraft and has recently branched out from WW2 to give us models of tanks, other vehicles, ships, and aircraft from Vietnam through the current era.

They just released the officially licensed Top Gun line.  You can get a the F/A-18E Super Hornet or a standard gray paints one (from the movie), Maverick's personal P-51 (I'm guessing from the new movie)...and now they just released the F-14A Tomcat with Maverick and Goose figures.  All under $100, and Cobi tends to slash prices after a few months too.  I noticed the Super Hornet released last fall at $60 and is now up on their Amazon store for only $40.

Can't wait for later this summer when their A-10 set releases.  Hoping they do an M50 Ontos for their Vietnam collection.

I own and have built the following from them:

Pz IV ausf H

M18 Hellcat

Spitfire Mk VB

Messerschmitt Bf109 f-2

Bell UH-1 Huey, Vietnam Air Cav

Waiting on delivery of Maverick and Goose in their F-14A.

All are high quality models.  I recommend them to folks who like military models, but don't want to mess with tiny little pieces and model glue.

"Lt. Rice of the VF-124 Gunfighters performed the hottest minimum radius turn ever recorded at an airshow. The Abbotsford International Airshow was host to many foreign teams and dignitaries in 1986 as part of Expo '86 in Vancouver, BC. If there was one show to pull out all the stops to show the world how great the F-14 Tomcat was, this was it. Lt. Rice performed all the standard airshow demo maneuvers, but the minimum radius turn set the record for an elapsed time of 20 seconds. Many factors contribute to the high G maneuver such as entry airspeed, density altitude, pilot proficiency, but mostly the ability of the pilot to withstand the sustained blood draining G's for that 20 seconds. Lt. Rice and the VF-124 team showed the world how awesome the Tomcat really was"!

This plane should not have been taken out of service!

38 seconds.
