"Affirmative" means you are agreeing to or reaffirming something. I'm going to argue that you can already do this with the new battle communication, and be less vague while doing so.

First, let's review the new battle communication options:

That which is [F2] by default, I will call [my intention]. I personally have this set to [W].

That which is [T] by default, I will call [request]. I personally have this set to my upper mouse button.

That which is [F7] by default, I will call [help]. I personally have this set to [Q].

That which is [F8] by default, I will call [load time]. I personally have this set to [R].

That which is [F4] by default, I will call [retreat]. I personally have this set to [E].

That which is [F3] by default, I will call [thanks]. I personally have this set to [1].

That which is [Z] by default, I will call [sure thing]. I personally have this set to [6].

(If you have not recently been personally pinged, [sure thing] opens communication carousel upon being held.)

For those curious, I have ASDF as hull motion, ZXC as ammo type, YHB as cruise control and hull lock, SHIFT as reload magazine, SPACE as charge salvo, VGT5432 as consumables, I press the scroll wheel to switch from/to arcade view, and all the other hotkeys I have farther away.

Note: you can aim at terrain or tanks without pointing your gun that way by holding the right mouse button down.

Letting your allies know what you're doing:

"Driving to position!" Places marker.

-Aim at terrain, press [my intention].

OR

-Hold Ctrl, mouse over position on minimap, right click.

"Attacking target!" Marks enemy.

-Aim towards enemy, press [my intention].

"I'll help" Audibly notifies recipient.

-Aim towards ally, press [my intention].

"Reloading!" Types load time remaining in chat.

-Press [load time].

"I'll capture the base!" Pings base.

-Aim towards enemy flag, press [my intention].

OR

-Hold Ctrl, mouse over enemy flag on minimap, right click.

"I'll defend the base!" Pings base.

-Aim towards allied flag, press [my intention].

OR

-Hold Ctrl, mouse over allied flag on minimap, right click.

Requesting actions from allies:

"Attention to position!" Places marker.

-Aim at terrain, press [request].

OR

-Hold Ctrl, mouse over position on minimap, left click.

"Requesting fire!" Marks enemy.

-Aim towards enemy, press [request].

"I need help!" Audibly notifies recipient.

-Aim towards ally, press [request].

"Help!"

-Press [help].

"Retreat!" Audibly notifies recipient.

-Aim towards ally, press [retreat]. (This may work even when not directed at an ally, I'm not sure at the moment.)

Approving requests from allies:

Approving markers; adds a player tally by marker:

-Aim towards marker, press [intention]. (I'm not 100% sure at this time that this is the right key.)

Approve an ally's request for your help, audibly notifies recipient:

-Press [sure thing] after they ping you with the request.

OR

-Aim towards ally who just openly called for help, press [sure thing]. (I'm not 100% sure at this time that this works.)

Approve ally's command to fall back, audibly notifies recipient:

-Press [sure thing] after they ping you with the request.

OR

-Aim towards the ally who just openly called for retreat, press [sure thing]. (I'm not 100% at this time that this works.)

Courtesy:

"Thank you!" Audibly notifies recipient.

-Aim towards ally, press [thanks].

OR
-After receiving a message indicating that an ally will help you, press [sure thing].

"Affirmative!" / You're welcome.

-After receiving a message of thanks, press [sure thing].

Now lets imagine uses for an F5 "Affirmative" hotkey, as we had previously. I will propose alternative actions.

Ally indicates their intentions, and you agree with them. However, you are not doing the same.

Since there's no F5 "Affirmative", you could:

-Say "I'll support you" using the new hotkeys.

-Say "Thank you" using the new hotkeys.

-Use new hotkeys to request attention to whatever they're about to do. (Admittedly this does not inherently communicate agreement.)

-Quickly type "good" or "good plan" in the chat.

-Do nothing. Possibly also communicate what you're doing without making requests from others. If contrasted with saying "fall back" to an ally indicating pushing, or "help me" to an ally indicating staying/falling back, this would imply that you're in agreement.

You want to communicate celebratory feelings.

-Say "Thank you" using the new hotkeys.

-Quickly type "NS" or "Nice shot!" in chat.

-Quickly type "GG" or "gg" in chat.

You want to indicate approval of a suggestion/request from your ally.

-Use the various hotkeys as described earlier in this post.

I find the new system very obtrusive.

FINALLY! The one sole person who was for the change. Too funny.  Since you obviously have WG’s ears, please, have them get on the bugs that have been around since beta. If you can get them to change comms, this should be a drop in the bucket.  Nothing major, maybe fix the tank carousel, or the missions tabs, or the separation reticle thing, etc. Thanks in advance!

I do occasionally make suggestions or support others' suggestions. Unfortunately, I am as rarely heard as most others.

If you make a post, I might respond. As for me, here's the most recent "big idea" I've had http://forum.worldoftanks.com/index.php?/topic/622028-spg-rework-suggestions/ this was back before the tech tree rework.

So when an ally calls for help to go do a stupid thing, how do I tell him "negative" we will not support him with the current system?

So if were going to go back and include negative, why not include affirmative as well?

There is a mod to bring back f5~f6 affirmative/negative so it's kinda a moot point now.

Thats a lot of effort to find ways that take longer time to do something that previously took one click.

Half of "contextual" actions are not possible out of visual range.

Half of things we used Affirmative/Negative can't be replied to in new "system".

Additionally new map pings are half worthless, half trash. You get bunch of lights on map that quickly disappear and dumbed down message in chat that says nothing about area. In meantime "waypoints", with no info who goes there, keep glowing on map because their removal is bothersome.

New "system" is made for playing with gamepads, where buttons are limited. Then forced into game that does not even support gamepads. Some new commands are not bad, and can improve communication a bit, but removing old system was dumb move.

One problem I have is always having to point to an ally to communicate. Suppose I’m brawling and have gotten myself into trouble. I’m about to be destroyed then suddenly 3 shots come from different directions and kill the enemy I’m brawling with. I’d like to say thank you, but whereas that was a simple F5 tap before now I have to type in chat or figure out who it was. Not a huge deal, probably now will just type “ty” but it just seems to make things clunkier than they used to be.

The new system requires too much targeting, clicking, choosing from response wheels, etc.  Other than just using the T button to bring attention an area or call for fire on a target or F7/F8 to give basic info about my status, I just don't bother communicating anymore.

Unpopular AND unduly lengthy.

So the new system is great ... as long as you completely remap it.
