Yeah I know console is different, but it does sound very interesting and hopefully PC might also try this out.

It all depends how they do it. Getting rid of the 1 second visible, next second invisible aspect of the view range system would be nice, as long as it does not render scouting and concealment useless. I'm interested to see how the testing goes.

at one point they were discussing possibly changing the viewing mechaninc such that ONCE SPOTTED< tanks wqould not go away until ALL tanks had lost lign-of-sight, regardless of "cammo rating" and "view rating" (improperly called "view range" by WG)

dunno if that discussion has yielded anything .

not watching 14 minutes of console talk to find out, either.

I watched it for you.

It was talking about using line of sight in the spotting algorithm.

I think that could very well break the game.

Want to nerf arty and active wheeled scouting, get rid of the 7 second spotting latency.

Keep whatever designated target and improved radio gives.

Well I played it a bit today and I have some more details on what console test is actually doing.

#1 Arty DOES NOT have the true vision unless someone is there to spot the enemy tank, so no arty killing people before they get spotted (unless they get lucky with a blind shot) and arty does NOT continue to see reds after they go unspotted again. As far as I can tell, arty view works the same as it always did.

#2 after a match on prokhorovka, I found that you can see tanks after they go unspotted again, which needless to say, is quite nice on large open maps like Prok. But how many of those large open maps are in the game currently? Not many. I don't think this is a game breaker like some of the youtubers are saying after actually playing the test

#3 You can NOT see tanks until they get spotted by someone, so farming the usual routes to kill reds before they get spotted won;t be a thing (again unless you get lucky with a blind shot)

I am still on the fence but overall I think it's a potentially good change that PC should consider implementing, or at least testing.

It does  remove the EXTREMELY annoying thing where tanks go invisible while you are shooting at them if someone else spotted them and moves out of range or dies.

For that reason alone I think it's worth looking at seriously.

Are you listening PC devs?

You SHOULD be.

I know spotting has accommodations to reality being an arcade game, but I would like that if you are a shooter landing a hit, pen or not, you and you only get to see the tank for an additional amount beyond the standard spotting time.

The spotting system works just fine as it is, no need to mess with things that aren't broken.

The spotting system is what frustrates new players the most.   I've had friends that tried and moved onto other games,  spotting mechanics was their biggest complaint.
