I guess you need to define 'fantasy' tanks.

Fantasy tank would be a tank that was never built and existed only in blueprints.

If you old farts had it your way we'd all be slap fighting each other in shermans and tigers for ten years. I wish wargaming would wholly make up fake tanks from the drawing board and admit they were 100% created in house. Just so I can watch you vomit up your metamucil and dump a load of prunes into your depends.

Fake tanks are the only thing keeping this game alive and profitable. No one wants to stare at the [edited]end of a T-34 for ten years. If you do, go download a simulator that caters to you and leave us to enjoy new vehicles

I actually don't mind Sherman, cause there are tons of variants, I still wait for the M4A1 FL-10 they announce long ago,

maybe in the future, Yugoslavia 122mm Sherman, the M50 sherman, the chilean m50-60mm auto loader Sherman.

I think they look fine.  Everyone thought the IS-3A or double-barreled Soviets would encourage power creep but I don't find them to be any more difficult to deal with than any other heavies in the game.

Interesting opinion. I'll admit that's what I thought about IS-3A, but not about the double-barreled tanks. Also, I have IS-3A, but don't own Obj. 703 Version II.

I sorted my tier 8 tanks based on damage per game. Before checking any numbers I was trying to decide if a minimum of 50 or 100 games would be a relevant sample size. I opted for 100. Here's my top-5 damage dealers from tier 8.

  1. 2283 dpg, IS-3A
  2. 2197 dpg, Defender
  3. 2071 dpg, SU-101
  4. 2059 dpg, Lansen C
  5. 1981 dpg, T28 Prot.

Tanks that didn't make the cut: TS-5 2115 dpg, UDES 14 5 2107 dpg, Strv S1 2065 dpg, SU-130PM 2054 dpg. All of these had 44+ games in them.

Even if you allow smaller sample sizes, IS-3A is in a league of his own with 100 more dpg than the next tank, and 150-200 dpg more than tank the after that. And I'm not even that good of a heavy tank player.

Does anyone know if these are REAL tanks or more from the imagination of WG? Italians mainly used US or Euro versions of tanks. Is this gonna be another "Luigi from the tank school was sitting on the crapper one day and thought up the designs for these vehicles". I'm not a big fan of fantasy tanking. :(

Never mind, just watched the video. More fantasy tanks. And even worse, more autoloaders. That's gonna make a lot of people real happy. More power creep. The mechanics of the autoloaders look amazingly similar to what Armored Warfare is fooling around with. I wonder if WG plans on eventually buying out Armored Warfare? I suspected that would happen for a long time, since the people over there don't seem to be able to run things successfully.

There are a few book collections that include even weird interwar and pre-armistice tank designs that were never built, up to the '80 in the current last volume, and I've never seen anything like these.
The premium one has a 105/55 gun which was a real project, an academy in Naples took the 90mm M36 gun that's on the M47 and designed a few modifications that would increase the caliber to 105mm and lengthned it a bit, either in French or US style rifling. But other than that I don't see much else that's real.

Spoiler

Why are you messing around with World of Tanks when Star Wars or Star Trek are available to you with REALLY new vehicles and weapons. If WG keeps up with this fantasy garbage, lasers and photon blasters will soon be the rage.

Real tanks that actually existed. And if they actually did that the German tanks would reign supreme. So that idea is out. :D All these fantasy tanks are there to keep the urchins happy and their wallets open.

The Tier 8 Premium has some crazy levels of spaced armor all around the turret and hull.

It reminds me a little of the British Challenger MBT in the looks department.

I really didn't care about the Polish mediums when they came out but I'm actually intrigued by these new Italian vehicles (maybe because they're heavies?), the tier IX looks nice and i would probably go to that one and stop, i just pray that they get them right before release, we don't need a repeat of the Progetto debacle a while back:facepalm:.

Same. The Polish tanks certainly looked the part, but after seeing the specs I haven't been real interested in grinding them. The new Italians on the other hand...

Not sure about the turret armor on the Tier X, it looks a little flat.

Q.  New Italian Heavy tanks - What do you think?

A.  WarGimmick autoloaders are a gimmick, there are no tanks driving around with a clip of ammo.  Autoloaders are single shot, just like a human loaded tank.

It's called a game for a reason, not everything has to fully resemble real life.

FWIW, I think the IS-7 actually did have a sort of clip system for the first 6-7 rounds that would've given it similar firing & loading mechanics to the autoloaders in WOT.

If we are gonna have fantasy tanks.  Can it be a literal "World of Tanks"?
Like Tanks from all sorts of media, including history?

It would be insane and epic to see a Type 5,  duking it out with a Baneblade, or a E-100 going toe to toe with a Red Alert, Soviet Apocalypse Tank!
Or a IS-3 and a Leman Russ Battle Tank trading blows!

Can I haz Baneblade?  Leman Russ Battle Tank?  Apocalypse Tank?  Tesla Tank?  Mammoth Tank? Predator Tank?  Vindicator? Marauder Tank?

Wow. So T8 premium compared to the Tiger II..

Much better speed, armor, firepower, depression, and an auto loader....

So shocked.

Why the hell can't they give Germany a single tank this good? Just stupid at this point how bad the balance is.

Lol over in the Blitz version of the game the Tiger II is borderline OP after it's buff.  And we finally got the Kranvagn...been waiting four years for that.
