I just bought a Caernarvon AX and am wondering what crew skills you tankers would recommend for this tank?  I have outfitted it with a spall liner, vertical stabilizer, and improved ventilation. Any comments would be appreciated.

Instead of the spall I have a rammer on it, otherwise my equipment is the same. For crew I have BiA and repairs, then safe stowage and snap shot/smooth ride with 6th. Haven’t gotten the crew more than that yet I don’t think.

Thanks for the reply and the info.  I put the spall liner on it because the frontal armor is considered weak.  We'll see if it helps.

Spall liner doesn't do anything to help with weak armor. In fact, spall liner's effectiveness scales with armor thickness, so the weaker the armor the less value spall liner gives. On something like the AX which has very weak armor in some places, spall liner will have almost no impact. You'll see much more benefit replacing it with a rammer, or even HP boost (though if you put HP boost on, you should replace vents with rammer. Rammer is a huge DPM boost, you should always have it mounted on tanks you want to deal damage in).

As mentioned above, the spall liner is better for already heavily armored tanks. It only helps against HE and basically reduces the amount of damage done when HE doesn’t pen. It can also help when ramming, but the AX is slow and not very good at this. It might help a little with arty but the flat parts of the AX on the top are pretty thin. Arty will hurt the AX significantly either way, so better to try to avoid it. Your gun does pitiful damage but it fires fast, in my opinion for this tank it makes sense to max that out and have it fire as fast as possible with the rammer and vents. Your turret armor is good so ideally you’ll be able to unload shots from a hill or ridge. You can also permatrack people if you get into the right position as your reload will be less than 5 seconds.
