I ran a scan on www.canyourunit.com and not only did I meet the minimum, and the recommended. My PC was labeled as "Optimal."

Now, if this is the case. Why am I only getting 20 fps on average on Medium settings with nearly everything off and dropping to as low as 5-10 fps at times?

My specs:

6GB RAM
AMD Phenom 8400 Triple Core (2.10ghz)
Nvidia Geforce 9800GTX+
Windows 7 (64 bit)

I have even changed the affinity to use all 3 cores and still no luck. I really feel my PC should be performing better than this especially considering it was even labeled as "optimal."

What am I missing here? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Not for me, fps never goes up higher than 150 or so, you might need to update your browser.

browser has nothing to do with this game. WTF are you talking about...

The game is badly optimized, and runs on a single core.  Hopefully one of the major patches will include an engine upgrade that includes multi-core support and many players will see an increase in performance.

20 fps?  I'm hitting 8 MAX.  try playing a light tank or spg in that.
Yeah, i get WAY better performance in other games... but Minecraft isn't really a great reference :)

I don't go below 40 FPS. That's with insane amounts of action. How do you guys feel?

I got more jelly then Giant's preservatives aisle.

Anyhoo, after using Game booster, closing all unneeded programs, turning all graphics options to "low," and disabling smoke, i can run anywhere from 10-20FPS on low-power mode, at a maximum temperature of 60C.

On "Recommended mode," same settings, i can hit 25-40, with a maximum temperature of 91C, depending on the amount of bushes.

So it's either live with low framerates or kill my tablet PC. I've already replaced the video card in this thing once, and I don't plan on doing it again.

On the other hand, i grew up gaming on a Dell. Tweaking graphics options, setting everything to "low," and playing with sub-optimal framerates is no issue for me.

When I changed out my old 9800gt for a gtx 560 frame rates went from 30-35 up to 100 plus.  6GB RAM, core i7920, and WIN7 64 bit.  The fact that the 9800gt could have beter frame rates than the 9800gtx means processor speed may also be limiting you.  Better graphics card would be your best money spent to improve your performance.

9800GTX is pretty old now man, plus the Phenom 8400 isnt flash (and WoT doesnt seem to multithread very effectively, think it only uses 2 cores) so i think you have two bottlenecks right there sorry. Mostly CPU I'll say though, 2.1GHz is loooow clock speed these days. My PC isn't flash, but Phenom x4 955 @ 3.6GHz w/ GTX460 and I sit around 50 - 60fps in most situations on max @ 1920x1080.

I honestly don't know HOW I can live through just getting 0~30 avg. FPS. The only thing I can't really deal with though is sitting behind bushes with tank destroyers. I really just stopped playing tank destroyers as I couldn't aim right with such damn low FPS.

And yes, you can slice me up and serve me to your family during Thanksgiving or Christmas. I am that damn ham of you.

And that's reply I was looking for.

Looks like I know what I'll be buying.

One BIG problem with WoT is that it doesn't support multiple cores. So your three cores? Useless. For now, its all about clock speed and raw GPU power.

The 2.1GHz clock speed of your Phenom x3 is one factor that is slowing you down. The other factor is your old 9800GTX+ (even though it should still be good enough to play WoT on medium-high reasonably (20 - 30 FPS)).

Say I would purchase this combo...

I know I need a new motherboard so the combo here is ideal. I know multi-core isn't need for this game, but I plan on playing other games as well.

Now upon upgrading this motherboard/cpu combo, would anything else in my rig need changed? Do I need to reinstall an operating system or anything? Upgrade power supply? What are common upgrades when upgrading a motherboard/cpu?

Next upgrade in line will be a new GPU.

Thanks for the help. I'm new to the PC gaming so any help is appreciated very much so.

before you run off and spend $ do you have anti alias on ? turn it off, if you are running a high resolution you don't need it.

What res are you running?

Screen shot your graphics settings and let us see what you have on.

AA is off.

Res is 1440x900

Running these settings I am only getting 10-20 fps. I drop them all to low, and there is no difference fps wise.

Turn down AF to 0 (or Bilinear) and Water Quality down to Low. Draw distance and LOD down to low. That should fix some problems. If it keeps happening, we can make the game ever uglier and use the terrain mesh resolution fix.
