Had this happen in a battle yesterday. Was trying to msg a platoon mate and suddenly everything, but tanks and terrain disappeared. No mini-map, no red or green outlines of tanks, no target indicator, no mission status at top of the screen, no lists of green and red tanks, nada.

Is there a command sequence that does this or just a random bug?

Stop - start of client fixed it.

Sounds like you turned off your HUD.

Depending on your key-mapping, it's either the "H" or "V" key.

If that ever happens again, usually trying to re-type the message fixes it (as you will inevitably hit the same key that turned it off in the first place). Works for most games.

You pressed v, also known as hard-core mode if you also press shift too.

There is a "Hide Battle Interface" key mapped to 'V' .  Neat look, but you are reduced to fighting a 50 cal machine gun with a blunderbuss.  Can't even tell who to shoot at until they shoot you in the face.

Thanks.

I thought at the time that the shift key might have been involved, but I couldn't find the sequence to reverse the effect.

Shift puts you in sniper mode (hence the hard core mode without any battle interface or enemy tags), unless you've changed the hotkeys. Just press v the next time you go into battle and then v again to see the interface come back up.

You hit the "v" key if you have the default key bindings.

That is the first key I always change in the key bindings. I used to set it to | (vertical line? Pipe?)  Then I found out you could set it to "no key" !

How, you say?  Set it to LMB then set "fire" back to LMB. Viola, "hide UI" can't be accidentally hit EVER!

i always hide that key binding AND the minimap key binding. as "brackets" in my case. i am notorious for fat-fingered miscues while typing. i even switched HE to key 8, because i have hit the "3" key in my fat-finger-furious-fist-fumbles!
