Did you notice that:

  • In 2018 there were 14 ornaments for each tier -- I through V.  Tier V was only 20% of the album.
  • In 2019 they started end-loading with 13 at Tier I, 16 at Tier II through IV, and 19 (24% of the album) at Tier V.
  • In 2020 they pushed that model even further with 16 at Tier I through IV, and 30 (32% of the album) at Tier V.
  • In 2021 they're really squeezing with 13 at Tier I through IV, and 40 (43% of the album) at Tier V.

If I'm being generous, I'd say that they're fine-tuning the business model to encourage people to buy the Loot Crates.  But it feels an awful lot like greed, especially since we know that the gold-equivalent of the Loot Crates aren't what they used to be, and the chances of getting a Tier VIII tank are so limited, with so many 3D styles producing their smoke screen of false hope.

Fewer players (old game) + same-sized staff and stockholders = increased monetization.

EVERY old game that doesn't die does this.

It's a FTP game. Play for free (and accept what that brings), or pay money for your hobby, like most people do for most hobbies, but please, don't whine about it.

When non pay camos were hard to come by, a full collection had some value.  Now that they drop all the time it's no that big of a deal.

You notice they took the commander out of the loot boxes? Then made it a hell of a lot easier for even FTP players to get? Not to mention it's even better than the previous years with 3 0skills? I don't even care if I fill the albums this year, have enough free styles, don't need any more, especially the really ugly ones his year. Not to mention it feels like it's a lot easier to earn boxes this year, I seem to average about 25 a day.

well tiers 1-4 no longer have any chance of DUPLICATES. EACH tier 5 has 3 (or 4 in one type). you want tier 5s? easy with real money...

Because he'll likely still be better than a regular commander? I doubt WG is just going to eliminate all the 0skill crews without some sort of compensation. They've already said that 5+ skill crews will get bonuses. As long as they do that the new system looks pretty good outside not having a clue what the new skills will do. They really made a mess of it on console with new skills so I hope whatever team was involved in that has nothing to do with PC.

They expect you to pay for the maidens to cough out a level 5 every day as quickly as possible.  But, yes, almost half of the entire album are level 5s now.
EA games level grifting.

Except the person running the company is himself personally worth over a billion dollars.  The company skates tax laws by being headquartered in Cyprus.  They make many many millions per year on their other games and offerings.
Their oldest game?  You might expect a little care and compassion for the few remaining players, similar to Blizzard and how it still keeps Diablo II online alive and well.
But, no, all of the issues I listed above and you just listed as well.

That's the thing.  They don't need this game to make money for them to survive.  Yet they squeeze us as hard as they can nonetheless.

Actually: This is really what's happening.

Fewer players (it's a very old game now) + fewer staff members to handle the work load and Extremely greedy stockholders = A monster sized increase in monetization of this game.

EVERY old game that don't die do something close to this but, no this bad.

It's a FTP game. Play for free (and accept what that brings), or pay money for your hobby, like most people do for most hobbies, and still get screwed just like the free to play people do.

chuck will only have bia as a zero skill. he will also have 6th and repairs trained and enough exp for a 4th skill. It was worded oddly but still don't expect 3 zero skills.

So you would prefer WG just make ZERO profit at this business? Because it IS a business, contrary to what you and others think. They are NOT a "charitable institution" to train future real-world tankers. When they stop making profits, the game dies. Is that what you want?

BTW...I bought ONE $99 loot crate, and I got the ISU-152K (tier 8), Bisonte C45 (tier 8), GSOR1008 (tier 8), and the French M4A1 FL10 (tier 5). Plus a bunch of 3D camo. including for the E100, and Jagdpanzer E100, and a French tier 10 light tank, to name a few. I ended up with over 100,000 in gold too. So yeah, I'll be buying two more loot crates before they are withdrawn from sales, as well as next year too. And I am quite happy with what I got.

What part of "I'd say that they're fine-tuning the business model" don't you understand?

And excuse me, when they're buying jumbo jets and E-195 jet planes and painting them in garish colors just for funzies, I'm not thinking that the company is at the point where they are going to "stop making profits, the game dies".

Not according to what I read, it specifically said the three skills are 0skill. Just can't remember where I saw it.

Although I swore I wouldn't buy loot boxes this, year I ended up getting a 75 box bundle anyways. I have to say they are underwhelming compared to previous years. I have only opened half of them, and so far have gotten the Bisonte, Locust, Matilda, and the the T78. I have also gotten four of the 3D styles (good thing they are extra because to me they are useless). Otherwise it's just a lot of 100K credits, 1 day of premium, and not a lot of anything else in them.

I know they are still worth more than what you pay, but it just feels kind of disappointing this time.

WoW, I went from happy with my purchase to highly disappointed in what I got in comparison to yours.

I only got 26K Gold, only 2 of the Tier 8s (all 5 of the Undertiers though) and only 1 Skin.  Add a month and a half of Premium Time & almost 5million in Silver to that, but it sounds like you did WAY better than I did.  You should be quite happy, just be careful on the next 2 you get.  Your Happiness might crash down to Earth a bit.

25K Gold runs $99.99, which is what the 75 Box Set goes for.  I got my money's worth, so I'm not whining.  Just pointing out "What you get" can vary greatly if that's what you actually got.
