My impression, so far:

Comms 2.0: utter failure. Comms are much worse, and used less, than they were prior. Grade? E.

Platoon 2.0: Meh. Grade C, or possibly Incomplete. It's a bit of a step forward, and I like the intent, but the implementation is quite weak. Still, it didn't hurt anything. It was in no ways a step backwards, unlike Comms 2.0.

Equipment 2.0: I now feel like I'm "done" with that, because with the Christmas box gold/silver, and last weekend's 50% equipment sale, I FINALLY got all my tanks re-equipped the way I want them, and was able to sell off the "excess" up-converted Level 1 stuff on Monday. I didn't keep total track of the coin in/out, but my impression is that, while my compensation would have allowed me to re-equip to the same status as before more or less as a wash, that's not how it worked out in practice, and I "lost", or one could say, chose to spend, a considerable amount dealing with Equipment 2.0 over and above the compensation

So, the whole thing was a huge amount of work (tank collectors have their own special First World problems), and a fair amount of cash, as I bought a lot of new equipment at full price because I couldn't stand to play the tanks gimped, and WG was very, very stingy with the equipment sales post-Equip 2.0. I don't say that to whine; it was intentional on their part, and I knew it, and I paid anyways, my choice. But it still is what it is.

Aside from the expense and hassle, which was considerable, I like Equipment 2.0 a lot. You can un-gimp gimped tanks with it, and do specialized builds. These things are fun for me, and I also think they benefit skilled/experienced/interested players more than the more casual players. Since I am at least experienced and interested, if not skilled, they benefit me in battle, and I have more fun. Bottom line? With Equipment 2.0 I'm spending more money, but having more fun. Which, of course, is exactly what WG wanted. Well-played, WG. Overall grade for Equipment 2.0? B

Comms gets a small smiley face for finally adding a "thank you" button.  Otherwise ... yup.

And another smiley face for returning the "Affirmative" and "Negative" commands.

We still need a "I'm sorry!" command because I'm constantly screwing up...

I think Comms 2.0 would have gone over much better had it not had the two glaring issues at the start - the ping timer (horrible for clan battle calling) and the lack of Affirmative/Negative. That probably put a semi-permanent bad vibe on it for a lot of people.

TBH the only reason I don't like the new comms in because people use them too much. No idea what game you're playing. Constant "fall backs" from bush campers on the red line, 'I'll support you" from people that never support you, etc.

EQ2 was for the most part fantastic, just tweaked the existing system. No idea how anyone couldn't come out ahead with it. Made enough money to put equipment on almost all my tanks, even the ones that I don't play and buy a few tier 9's and 10's while still having millions of credits left over and I still have not sold off all my equipment just in case. Took me maybe an hour altogether to re-equip all my tanks, hardly a huge amount of work. Biggest problem I have now is deciding on what setup I like most for some tanks.

That's not communication; it's noise, and part of my point.

I'm not sure we can realistically give smiley-face credit for fixing something that they chose to screw up in the first place.  Maybe one of those neutral "not frowny" faces, at best.  :teethhappy:

So people NOT using it and using it TOO MUCH are the same thing?

Comm 2.0 in could be extremely useful / powerful.

Say you have an artillery friend in a battle.  With the satellite view, he can mark spots that is normally difficult to locate without good landmarks.  That can allow platoonmates / teammates to blind shot these locations.

Also, one could mark the target location right after enemies disappear, this way, you can get a few more seconds to re-aim the location.

I've got a feeling the alphabetical tier list will not be enough to adequately reflect the tier of Crew 2.0 because it does not go into negatives.

This is the one thing that's way better. Before I'd ping the sector with a well known obvious bush, say in chat 'he's in the bush' and most of the muppets with tens of thousands of battles have no idea what bush, even when it's one of the most obvious ones in the game. Now I can drop a marker right where I know an enemy tank is and people actually shoot at it. Even better it makes blind shots through cover a lot easier, when I know someone is in a bush but can't see it I ping the map and I can actually target the marker, it's made blind shots a lot easier to land in those cases.

People are making more noise and communicating less. Exactly.
