Howdy Boom Jockeys!

Tiny rant to thank you for all the testing and sticking with the game over the years.

I would like to extend a thank you on behalf of your NA community team for all the constructive feedback on Crew 2.0. Your opinions do matter to us and we speak on your behalf with many matters concerning the game. If you have popped into any stream with CabMech or Tragicloss you have already heard the logic of our Developers whether you agree with it or not. Games that last 10 years in this day and age are not very common. Especially a free-to-play game that relies on the player's support to keep going. It's a difficult balance to strike with the community when considering the free-to-play business model. The Dev team is offering a full AAA game experience with detailed maps, ongoing development, and a level of difficulty to deal with all for free. Allowing players to pay money if they are enjoying the game.

You may not have noticed the monetization of the game to get players interested in spending money on the game. (sarcasm :)) This has to be done in a way that doesn't drastically change the gameplay or give players a massive advantage over a player just joining the game and trying it out for the first time. Things like premium Ammo are built into the economy to keep players from reaching the endgame of Tier X and just sitting there. Damage to vehicles, consumables, ammo prices is all there to do this. None of this is an excuse but is just a fact of how the game is designed. Any changes to this economy is not taken lightly since it has taken 10 years of data before these changes.

Many forum go-ers are not as jazzed by some changes or decisions made by developers. The wheeled vehicles shaking the box, and meta of how the game flows. Forcing players to rethink their decisions of what bush to hide in. RNG and the reason for MM not looking at skill in Random battles. These challenges are in the game as it adds an extra level of complexity that other shooter games don't offer. A similar board game to this approach is how Warhammer attacks are done. For example, roll a D6 for you to hit are in a result of a 5-6, if you rolled that, then roll again to see if your shot actually did damage only on a result of 4-6. The odds of rolling high twice are not very good to some players and they have to adapt to this in their playstyle. The same applies to World of Tanks but in a simulated environment with trajectories differing to some degree with each shot.

Developers get paid to add to the game and introduce new mechanics to challenge old players and interest new ones. Their main goal is to make a free-to-play game difficult to play for free. Pretty sure everyone can agree that they do that very well. I hope this post helps in explaining some of the logic from an Employee of almost 6 years that has seen many changes implemented to the game.

TLDR: Pay money if you enjoy the game :). Decide on how much you wanna support the game, know that we appreciate all our players both free to play and supporters.

One thing that you can take away from this game is that it is never done changing.

Thank you again to everyone that gave feedback after trying it on the Sandbox. The following players were selected in the raffle to receive the Rat Rod camo.

Spoiler

NA has traditionally been a smaller player base for this game. Most if not all of our concerns mean nothing in terms of RU player base. But we do appreciate NA staff trying to help voice our concerns along even if it comes to nothing, We long time players do realize the NA staff does try.

Thanks for this honest take Krzy. I have personally spent far more on this game than any other video game by several times. I enjoy playing it, and one of the things I enjoy about it is that despite my feelings in the 10 seconds after I get destroyed by 3 arty or I bounce on everything and get killed with 0 damage I believe this is a game that you can enjoy without a fat wallet. To that end, that’s why I objected in particular to the beat down in crew 2.0 given to those who retrain their crews with credits. Every tank needs a crew. In the current game retraining with credits is a perfectly viable option. You are given a bit of inconvenience as you get your crews back to 100%. If you can’t deal with that or don’t want to, use some gold. With the crew 2.0 system the credit retraining is a slaughter of 10% total XP loss every time you retrain. I don’t want to spend money for gold retraining every time and if it goes live like that I can’t promise I’ll keep playing. I don’t think I’m alone in that. And I care about that because I like this game and want people to play with and against.

I know this isn’t a feedback thread so I won’t go into it more here. But I believe that this change will clobber a lot of players that spend at my level and below. And I am no FTP, believe me, though I am not a whale either. But there are a lot of us and I don’t want to see the game lose that number of players.

Appreciate the commentary and insight. I still enjoy so I continue to spend (mostly xmas loot boxes) but the game is a great outlet for me. I have an insanely demanding and stressful job and the game helps me manage my stress. You can't please everyone so no point in trying but I hope it continues to interest me as I have way too much invested now to want to start over on something else.

How about clarifying your comment about "reason for MM not looking at skill in Random battles".  If you don't want to discourage new players I would think that a skill based MM would be beneficial.  There as so many new players with few battles, playing higher tiers without mastering even basic tactics, that games typically last less than 5 minutes.   Wouldn't equal skilled teams make for a better game experience?  I am not talking about the vocal minority of high ranked clan members that don't want their precious XVM stats to suffer but rather the vast majority that play this game who get turned off by it's mostly lopsided battles.

Appreciate the post instead of just linking to the news article

There's one major point that I don't see mentioned and which concerns me a bit as that's something that will make me leave this game

The commander and their specialisation bonuses, that is such a major ..... P2W element if you will, that would create a huge gap between those who have it, either by playing their crews for years and years or simply purchasing gold -> credits-> crew books, and those who don't. Today's skill system doesn't really create that huge gap because while some skills are "needed" you're more or less levelling out at around 4 skills and most players can get there. Getting a 75 point commander with top level specialisation isn't

That said good on WG for listening and thx again for the post

We need a players' sandbox, where we can experiment on facets that worry us, the players, the most.

I have enjoyed this game since I started playing it. I look at it like this Wargaming did not force me to spend any amount of money on the game. But when I was able I spent a lot of money on this game. I hate that I am not able to spend money on the game any more. Getting really sick and becoming disabled has through me for a loop that I don't like. I made a lot more money back when I was able to work. But I still do enjoy the game.

My dude if you like, play, and contribute to the game and you only ever spent $50 - $60 total on it, then you did your part.  He|| if you done the first three things I mentioned and then only ever spent $5 you are just as important to the game as the sweatiest end game whale is. Even all the newest whiney newb F2P kiddos that play daily are helping the game lol. Never hate on your own ability/means to contribute. If you are here and not being a complete nuisance then you are just as important as the rest of us.

EDIT: Some grammar and typos.
