so when are we going to get the second part of the Panther series? I swear I could build myself a Panther and I am pretty sure the Germans could too far quicker then this video is arriving.  :amazed:

It's summer time. Everything gets done a little slower during the summer.  That said, I am looking forward to part II as well.

If you follow him around to watch paint dry he will slap a restraining order on you.

For some reason I don't have permission to post on topics in the new "all in one" tank lore section.  RIP HAV.  Or maybe they don't want me posting in tank lore anymore and I can't take a hint....

I have the same problem.  They screwed up the merge, unless it's intentional.

Well, here's your counterpoint. When anti-gravity is sorted out (or at least, hover tanks) are they still tanks?

In the shorter term, however... Advances in wheel technology have resulted in wheeled vehicles below a certain weight being as mobile if not better across all terrain types as the equivalent tracked vehicle. Now, is the requirement for a tank to be "heavily armored" or to be "heavily survivable"? If, all of a sudden, we discover that EM armor, active defenses and whatnot provide the same level of effective protection to a 30 ton vehicle as a 60 ton vehicle has today, can it not perform the same functions of a tank? Surely a tank is a vehicle which combines high levels of survivability, acceptable mobility, sustained presence, and a direct fire weapon system. Does it matter if it's tracked, wheeled, has a laser cannon or rail gun? So, by logical extension, I would argue that a wheeled tank is not far in our future.

Back in the 80s there were some very nifty grav-tank wargames (Grav Armor which was Panzer Blitz reskinned for science fiction, and Centurion, and I remember playing one online game around 2000 which was pretty cool too but only in beta.  ( "Wulfram II"?? ).  So I say YES!  They'd still be tanks. :)

But honestly, from a logical point of view, your argument makes sense.  :)

I guess the HAV isn't the only ghost town on the NA forum that no one visits anymore.

This place is dead.

OK. I've only just copped that that's not your real name.

Suffice to say, I have not watched Big Lebowski.

I enjoyed it. It and the True Grit remake are the only Coen Brothers films I've seen and they were both well done

Yeah, you're missing a great film which demonstrates the continuing range of two excellent actors, John Goodman and Jeff Bridges ...

Speaking of movies, it looks like Christopher Nolan is doing a film on Dunkirk.  Cool.

Apparently there is this thing called "Hot Cheetohs" of which I am not aware. My ignorance is now being soundly mocked by certain personnel in the office.
