Honestly, I can't think of anything off the top of my head.  Verlinden publications has a decent book on the M60A3 with a good deal of illustrations and interior pictures, but that is probably a bit later than you are looking for.

Likely. And frankly, even M48 is sort of hard to for me to completely understand and visualize while trying to design the interior of a tank turret.

I wasn't sure where to post this, but I wanted to post a brief message to thank The Chieftain (and Victoria) for the meet'n'greet they hosted at The Canadian War Museum in Ottawa last weekend. There were some 250 WoT fans there, and Wargaming generously picked up our admission fees. I went alone but ran into some RL friends there, and of course met some new people too, including folks from Montreal, Kingston and New England. We were there some four hours or more, and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It was great to chat with The Chieftain face-to-face, and I came away well impressed with his encyclopedic knowledge of armoured vehicles! And he's a very approachable and generous personality; a terrific evangelist for Wargaming. All in all, it was a very positive experience and I'd highly recommend anyone in the neighbourhood of one of these events take advantage of the opportunity.

I met the Chieftain at a meet & greet in LA a while back.  I totally agree with your comments about him.  He was great, very friendly and knowlegdable and a very interesting speaker.  Good guy.

No troll, but have you never been in a more modern tank? May be my mechanic's bias, but the '48 I poked around in seemed pretty logical to me.

Not saying it is not logical, but that I can't visualize the complete system when comparing to say a Tiger or Panther. It's just my non-engineering background hindering things.

Gotcha.. Okay now I know what you mean.

You need to find someone with access, and spend a day just doing the point and figure. It looks more complicated, but actually is a lot simpler in many ways.

Acquire what is known as a "Ten Manual" for the M48A3, M48A5, or M60, A1 or A3.

(10-series manual = Operators Preventive Maintenance Checks & Services ... 20 & 30-series are strictly detailed higher-echelon maintenance)

Even a Ten Manual for the M551 Sheridan, or any of the Canadian Leopards would be instructive.

All of them are highly-illustrated.

More than a few Army/Navy surplus stores have them ...

Having been born into a geological epoch predating dinosaurs, it rarely occurs to me to look-things-up online ...

I'm always thinking "book, physical, paper pages, 1 each" ...

I have an A3 Dash-Ten, complete with original 3-ring binder, from 1979 ... Covers both sight packages ...

(+1)

Edit ... Gee, I collected a Neg ... Reckon I offended somebody ...

Its funny that I can remember the TM number for the M60A3, even though the last time I filled out a 2404 on one was nearly 30 years ago.
