I really don't think there is a way of telling an M4A2 from an A3 from a distance, unless one can see the engine deck.

Ran into Dan Snow aboard HMS Cavalier yesterday, followed by the privilege of dinner. I really must look into this "periscope" app he was using.

I was specifically trying to identify this M4, it stands in front of a Drill Hall in my area.

Ah, the guys behind the Sherman Minutiae website have a registry of surviving M4A2 76 W HVSS's, and your tank is on the list

The website for casemate publishing has listings for English language editions of the World of Tanks T-34 and SU-152 books.  It says they are being published by some outfit called Lombardy Studios.  What's the story here?

Exactly what it says. Dana Lombardy is a chap we've known for some time, and to my understanding Lombardy Books purchased the rights to sell the Tactical Press series in English. Caused a bit of a ruckus when the two different dealmakers found out about the Echo Point/Hunnicutt negotiations, which have still not progressed but not stalled either.

I may have spent a little time there.....

Out of interest, does anyone know what the Benning equivalent is these days?

Chief ever come across a mention or photo of this?

Canadians are talking about how scary the Tiger 2 is in early Dec 1944 compared to anything the allies can bring to bear at the time.

They then mention the following "Lesser tigers and panthers have been reinforced in strength. They have been fitted with a kind of forward bulkhead, a steel box filled with concrete"

Nope. I'm not tracking it on either of those two. I wonder if they are simply generically saying "tigers and panthers" instead of "AFVs", but the comment is oddly specific.

The Canadians did report coming across other odd setups as well in the past.

Like a Panther with skirting around the turret like on the Pz IV, they were tied down with towing cable to the lifting points on the turret.

It seems I've been allowed to play three games each with VK 45.03, KV-4 KTTS, Turan IIIP. And a bunch with Sentinel. If I still run that sing-along tonight, I guess I'll run them then.

Chief,

Can you get an official response about Wargaming's gross and terrible redrawing of Europe's borders. Right now, its worse than Versailles.

Just to clarify:

Poland is it's own country.

Hungary does not exist, it is a German colony.

Czechslovakia is independent.

Switzerland, is, once again, a colony of Germany.

Essentially, Wargaming is adding voices, crew, ect, for the Poles and the Czechs while pretending that the Panzer 58, the Turan III, ect, are German. They get German crews, German insignas, German paint.

Turan III and Panzer 58 do not even get T-55a / Type 64 treatment, with national paint. German crosses and bears for absolutely no reason. Its as bad as the Ram II for Canada.

The Mutz doesn't get anything at all, so it isn't affected by emblems, inscriptions, and camo. I think that's why they went for the Mutz instead of a normal Panzer 58, as it meant much less work. As it stands though, the Hungarian emblems should be included if nothing else, and since Germany is used as a parent tech tree for Hungary and Switzerland, there's no reason we can't get full Hungarian Medium and TD branches capped off by Swiss vehicles. Might even be able to throw in a light tank line capped off by the Austrian SK-105 Kürassier as tier 9 and 10 TDs. All of which mean more money for Wargaming.....

Ooh, which Sentinel?

Hopefully the Turan IIIP makes it into the tech tree; it'd be nice to get it on sale.

G'day Chieftain , since you mention Sentinel.

When you were in Queensland did you go to Clive Palmers farm and check out the Sentinel III hull there? The one the AWM would not let you look at so we end up with the proto IV instead of the expected production one. I understand a few photos of it are on facebook from the Australian Armoured Corps page. The caretaker was reported as saying some people from a museum on the gold coast turned up with a truck to buy it and the Centurian with it but Clive said no.

No, I cannot say that I did. We are aware of the production variant, without the MG hole and more evently sloped armor, but chose to implement the produced experimental variant instead.

Wasn't exactly intended to be a production variant, it was meant as the main production version.  But you can argue about that till the cows come home.
