Ok. PSA for other foreigners like myself. Apparently attics in Texas are not designed for storage and will not hold the weight of an adult male in all places. There is now a substantial hole in my new kitchen ceiling. Which is annoying, especially the evening before a four day weekend.

Anyone know a good contractor in northern San Antonio?

OMG..:)

I would just like to confirm that Canada at this time of year is cold. Why couldn’t the Germans have been considerate enough to surrender a month earlier?

Because the Germans hated Canadian's far more then the other allies because of their inbreed beer snobishness. :P

Spector668, thank you!

Found it - lyrics & music https://mudcat.org/thread.cfm?threadid=70987

A "reiter" is a cavalryman (literally Horseman) "morgenlied" means morning song and "morgenrot" means red (as in bloody) morning

REITERS MORGENLIED (MORGENROT)
Wilhelm Hauff 1824 (1802-1827)

1. Morgenrot, Morgenrot,
Leuchtest mir zum frühen Tod?
|: Bald wird die Trompete blasen,
Dann muß ich mein Leben lassen,
   Ich und mancher Kamerad! :|

2. Kaum gedacht, kaum gedacht,
Wird der Lust ein End gemacht!
|: Gestern noch auf stolzen Rossen,
   Heute durch die Brust geschossen,
Morgen in das kühle Grab! :|

3. Ach wie bald, ach wie bald,
Schwindet Schönheit und Gestalt!
|: Strahlst du gleich mit deinen Wangen,
Die wie Milch und Purpur prangen,
Ach, die Rosen welken all! :|

4. Darum still, darum still
Füg ich mich, wie Gott es will.
|: Nun, so will ich wacker streiten,
Und sollt ich den Tod erleiden,
   Stirbt ein braver Reitersmann

Does anyone out there know the song that plays at the start of that Polish map, Studzianki..?

It's obviously an old cultural Polish folk song of some sort...and probably of that era. I've been trying to find a recording of it, or even a proper song title, but I haven't found anything..yet. I like the song...it's kinda catchy, that's why I want to learn more about it. If anyone knows something, let me know...

Thanks for sharing that, Nick.

I believe that might be the song I was looking for. Although, I have to say that the version, above, sounds much more celebratory and cheerful than the version we all hear at the start of the battle, in Studzianki.

I think the version we hear, in-game, is much, much darker... and more sombre. And considering the dismal circumstances of the region, at the time, that 'darkness' we hear in the music creates the perfect stage and chilling environment for a tank battle.

*Consequently, I always give credit where credit is due, so... I must tip my hat to all the Wargaming developers that worked on this music. Your intro music on many of these new HD maps is outstanding! Especially on Studzianki. I also love that blues harp intro at the start of Highway. Good work, ladies and gentlemen.

Chieftain, it was great meeting you at the San Antonio mixer! To follow up on one of the things we were discussing, I was hoping to find out if one of the recent game updates changed the artillery tracer detection game mechanics. What I mean is this: Prior to one of the recent major game updates (don't remember the number), while doing anti-arty searches in my arty, when you went looking for enemy arty tracers, these were simple white lines and they always started right at the point that the shell came out of the enemy arty's gun barrel. So it was simple to fire at a point just behind the origin of that tracer line to get a hit. After the update, the designers changed the look of the arty tracer so that it's more of a brief colored "cloud" tracer. If that were the only thing, it would be great because it looks way cooler. However, I started noticing that if you aim just behind the start of that tracer, as done before the update, you nearly always miss the target. Seems like you have to aim quite a bit behind it, and the distance behind the start of the tracer is highly variable (although it seems like the higher the tier, the further back you have to aim). Can you confirm if this is true, and is it another example of the developers trying to reduce overall effectiveness of arties? Thanks!

Try shooting at enemy tanks and actually helping in direct support of your team first.
