The new Field Modification is a straight up pay to win feature of the game, and here is why.

Let me explain first how the new Field Modification works: you need Free Experience, NOT experience accumulated on your tank, to unlock the tiers in the Field Modifications module. Unless you have 12,544,000 Free Experiences saved up will never, ever, completely modify every tier 10 in the game. For 1 tier 10 it takes 224,000 Free Exp to fully unlock all tiers in the Field Modification tab. How many players in the game currently have over 100k free experience saved up because they have every tank in the game, or every tank they want to research? I do not have an answer to that but I can guarantee you that it is not as low as to how many players have 224k free exp saved up, or even a million free exp.

So why do I call this new feature a Pay2Win model you ask? Very simple: You will need to convert exp on tanks to free experience using gold purchased to be able to refit and modify your, as the patch video said, "favorite tanks and give them new life". That's 8960 gold per tier 10, that's $50.15 Canadian (not sure what that is USD) PER TIER 10. Now Myself, I have every re-searchable tier 10 in the game including the 279e and 260. So If I ONLY want to boost my 'favorite' tier 10's and clan wars viable tanks (currently 17) so that is 152,320 gold and will cost me $757. Do not get me started on how many prem tanks I have or tier 6+ tanks i have collected.

How is this fair to everyone and ESPECIALLY new(er) players.

All I gotta say is that I am very, very, VERY disappointed in Wargamings approach to this new feature.

One thing OP. Unless I am very much mistaken (which I shouldn't be since I got on the CT server), you can use Elite XP to unlock Field Modifications. You don't need to convert it to Free XP first. That means you can use the XP accumulated on any elite tank to unlock Field Mods on that tank.

The only time where you would need to convert the XP to Free XP is if you want to use it to unlock Field Mods on a tank that you haven't accumulated Elite XP on yet.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, since you never know if WG changed something last minute and/or unannounced.

Field Mods are still a horrible idea that never should have been implemented in the game. There's already too much of a gap between new and established players. We didn't need Field Mods to widen that gap (and we definitely don't need Crew 2.0 to widen that gap even further).

However, what you outlined is a non-issue.

This isn't the case.  I had 31K XP leftover after researching the Tier 7 Heavy on the Skoda T25.  I was able to use all of that unlocking it's FMs and had 17K XP left.

Unless I am mission something buddy, I cannot use my Scorpion G free experience towards modifying it. I currently have about 40K on it so I should be able to research a few tiers

Never read a more selfish post.  They don't care if you are disappointed sense your whole approach to online gaming is to get everything for free or cry until you do.

Who knew that paying to unlock things that other people have to grind for was p2w?

Oh wait, hasn't that always been a feature?:sceptic:

So how much does the 60%win rate package cost in this new field modifications? What about the 75% win rate? My credit card is waiting for a prompt reply. Maybe I missed something here, I always thought I could earn free xp just by playing the game, without converting any with gold. If I remember correctly, free xp is earned at 5% of the xp earned in battle. Add in a +300% personal reserve and it is easy to earn 2-6k free xp daily.

They now that a lot of people will pay to get any advantage, in fact I'm sure some clans will require it. Regular dudes running tech tree tens just lost a little more ground.   Wargaming is here to make money, not make us feel good.  Not unlike that car dealer selling us rubber mats for $500.

So i am not a fan of p2w. the definition of pay to win is simple. any time a person can pay for a advantage over other players. frankly i agree that this is a pay 2 win feature. For awhile there will be a huge gap for most free players. but with hard work it can be over come. sad thing is. it will be grueling work. fought on stacked odds of the opponents favor. So in closing if you don't like wot is happening don't buy anything make it plain to them your not happy. all gaming company respect is money.

Player numbers are starting to drop during my active hours (19k down to 15k) and every "improvement" is compounding the situation.

Tbh...the "modules" don't seem to improve anything much. It gives a slight edge in things but from what little I have seen one selection gives some improvement while the other punishes you.

Are you sure about this? I thought the definition is "Any time a person can pay for an advantage over other players, which you can not get for free"

You left out the last part, purposely or accidentally, but it sure does change the definition.
