Both are premium tanks, and they are very nearly the same.  Why?  What is the point?

They are exactly the same tank. Only the Skorp G has a fixed/ non removable camo, and the Skorp allows you to use any camo you want on it. This is just like other tanks that did the same. Such as STG and STG Guard, T26E5 and T26E5 Patriot, AMX M4 mle 49 and AMX M4 mle 49 Liberte, and ect.. There is a hard paint, non removable painted version of all those tanks and a non painted on so people could use the camo they wanted on them version too.

Because a lot of players didn't like the lobster design so they added the plain version later.

NO ONE likes the lobster design.

So many of the camos in WoT are garbage, and some of them are utterly ridiculous. The Christmas camos are beyond a joke.

Pretty much only because a lot of people didn't like the fixed camo.

I like it as well as any other camo. But then I don't sit in a match dwelling on how good or bad my tanks looks. I use any camo that works. If I don't want to see any of the crazy ones click historical only solves the problem.

I didn't particularly dislike the lobster camo but when they offered a trade for the normal camo skorp I picked it up since it looks so much better with regular camo.

As others said they are the same, except for fixed camo versus ability to pick your own. Also when they released the Skorpion you were able to convert your Skorpion G to the other version for free, which is what I did with mine.

There was a time, I'd say it lasted a year to 18 months, where WG was really invested in releasing new premiums with a permanent exterior style. There was a bunch of them; Patton KR, Skorpion G, Mutz, Patriot, Liberte, Defender, STG Guard...I'm probably forgetting a few. If I'm remembering correctly, these tanks were introduced before pre-set style were a thing, so to create a tank with a permanent style WG had to create a base tank and a permanent style version. Some of these were only available with the permanent style (Patton KR, Skorpion and Mutz initially), some also had the option to buy a "plain" version (Defender, STG Guard). Over time, WG decided to offer players more of a choice or decided that more money could be made, so almost all the tanks that had a permanent style were also offered without the style. Also, there were occasions where you could exchange your permanent style version for the plain version. At this point, I think they have decided it is simpler to just maintain two versions (or 3 for the Mutz) of the tanks rather then integrate them into the pre-set style system.

Well, for spell check potatoes like you, it's a problem. For the rest of us, we know what OP meant and move along.

The Skorpians are the same tank in  practice, one has a permanent camo (the Skorpain G) and one has no camo to start with but you can add your own to it, it's the same situation as the T26E5 P version versus the regular T26E5.

There are a few premiums like this in game, only difference is one has preloaded camo and the other one has no camo.

Because they thought I would shell out cash for the same tank, but with the option to change my camo.  I don't mind the camo on the G, so that failed.  However, their are people who would like to be able to change the camo, so it's really aimed towards them.  And to be fair, they did offer the original G owners the ability to swap with the standard Skorpion for free; I just chose not to do it.

What always gets me is I have a hard time quickly identifying a Scorpion (tier 8 german without the skin) vs a Scorpion (tier 7 american) TDs.  It is a massive surprise when you glance at the map and see Scorpion thinking its the tier 7 and then he nukes you.

The G is easy to differentiate, the regular Scorps....dirty move.

I have Both, Skorp G was free and the Skorp was 50% Off because I HAD the Skorp G when the Skorp was Intro'd...        You had 2 Options, Trade Straight Across for the Skorp or Buy the Skorp for the Discount, since my G was Free, the Discount was the Obvious Choice....    Allows for Continued use of the Skorp in Frontline when you're on a Roll, and Trains Crewman since it doesn't Match EVERY Tank in the Tree....
