Quickybaby has a video out, it caught my eye because he's criticizing where Wargaming is taking the game meta.  Specifically this time he argues that Arty and tracked lights no longer have a use in Ranked and that Hull down beasts have taken over.  I'm not much for Tier ten stuff, so I'll spare you my thoughts on a mode I'm no good at. Suffice it to say I found the video raises interesting questions about where the game is headed.

10v10 is 5 less tanks for 1 arty to shoot.... so yes ranked has killed the use of arty

I disagree with alot of what he has to say.

Would you rather deal with STB1, Kran, 60TP, Super conqueror

Or would you rather deal with 3,200 HP high DPM Maus tanks, 1,400 HE damage Types 5s sitting on corners 200m away trading

Would you rather deal with no weakspot 268 V 4 driving around like mediums, 9 per side? 

Would you rather deal with chieftains, 279E, 907, 260s? By the way, chieftain is a superior Kran, that just trades in burst damage for better everything else

Getting rid of support castes, like light tanks isn't something new. We see it years already, in team battles, companies, skirmishes. 

In my opinion, getting rid  (not actually eliminating, just discouraging)  support classes makes the experience fairer.

 

I'd rather take part in ridiculous (K)ranked meta, than have to deal with far worse past examples. Exclusive examples, as not everyone has ridiculous reward Xs

I don't think tracked lights have ever been useful in ranked -- it's been shunned since the first/second ever ranked iteration.

They can be pretty decent but they're definitely outclassed. Why play a tracked Light over a Wheelie who can exploit the same openings arguably better than you since he's faster, or hell why play a Light anyway if your main way of getting XP In them is through spotting, and not every map (or team) permits the spotting you need, and when it comes to damage you're just outclassed by Meds anyway.

 

That said, I definitely had overall success playing the Manti atleast through the 3rd div on this account and so long as I didn't end up on maps like Ensk or Himmels it was hard to not gain a chev on a win or retain on a loss.

I agree with a lot of what he says, but not everything. I hate the HE nerfs and I like to play many types of tanks, I miss the variety that was once WOT, even arty even though I'm not much of an arty player, a lot of arty players have quit or don't play much anymore. 

I don't care for 10 vs 10 Rank, or Kran Ranked with hull down fortress turrets. After the test season of Rank near every pub battle turned into heavy tanks camping the red line sniping, so most of the ranked play filters do into play style in pubs.

Lol I post 2 topics about this. 1 was spotting it dead. Other was rank with the 50b.{Both at the start of rank almost everyone said "You are hurting your team if you bring a Lite or the 50b".

I love the 10v10 even though I haven't played much of the mode.

I love that reward/campaign tanks aren't allowed even though I have most of them. 

I'm not a fan of the powercreep/balance issues and speed of matches WG have caused.  If you don't have certain tanks then you will suffer.  I would love to see WG put more energy in to this aspect of the game rather than pumping out 50 new premiums a year that are each powercreeping the previous.

part of the problems with the Kran meta in ranked,  is  Kran's anemic nature frequently causing stalemates

 

Kran has very low penetration, 300. A typical heavy would instead have 325 APCR or 340 HEAT. But because Kran has 300, it presents problems and causes stagnancy.

So what we get, is alot of tanks staring at each other without chances of advancing and causing damage, because they are bogged down by severely low pen

This exact property, is why Kran less used in CW, compared to something like super conqueror, and now Chieftain. Kran has too much difficulty penetrating things

But what Kran does have compared to Chieftain and contrasting super conq and 60TP, Kran has mobility. Which means getting to location is fast and easier. 

 

Buff the Kran HEAT pen to 330 or 340 like normal heavies, and Ranked battles will go by much more fluid. And you won't have the stare-downs anymore

QUICKYBABY IS WRONG.

 

 

10V10 ranked with no ARTY was FUN!!!!!  I actually had FUN.

 

15v15 ranked was horrible with 4 ARTY per match.

 

Also, 15v15 ranked was very similar to RANDOMS, while 10v10 feels different and I like that it does not feel like randoms.   

 

I don't care that there are no TDS, Lights, or ARTY in it.  That is perfectly fine.

10v10 ranked was terrible, it's just boring heavy brawling over and over and over.  You don't have arty to slowly chip away at those brawlers to create openings.  I made a point to not play a Kran or vz 55 and did ok, but it isn't fun.  It's even worse since if you dare play a class outside of a heavy or medium your queue time is stupid long.

Yeah, the is-7 is outclassed by fking everything in ranked.

i fine one loved that there where no arty, and very few annoying light tanks running around, i only like to play heavys tds and mediums so i kinda like ranked made half way to division 2 but no more tanks for me tonight

I'm fine with chief and 279 being excluded but I want to play my t95e6 121b and m60 in ranked :(

There are a few in there I'd like to play as well but I'm ok with making it a fair "none  allowed"

This was the best ranked season yet.  Not having to deal with multiple arty or play against reward vehicles when you don't have them have been great improvements.  10v 10 is mush better for this game mode.  Two thumbs up for WG on ranked this season.
