11 years. 11 years and it still happens.

Ok...I'll bite.

What do you mean by "clipping and spotting" still being an issue?

If you sidescrape or don't turn a corner far enough you can be spotted, you won't spot them back and often times they'll get a shot in.

And I'm not suggesting it only happens to me. But like 25% rng it's another frustrating part of this game that should have been fixed a full decade ago.

because you dont have eyes in your [edited]or cameras on every corner? If your viewports are hidden why should you get xray vision?

Despite how long you've played and stats vise you don't know about the vision points? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7qrQ1UPltXg&t=101s or https://youtu.be/CRQh61Dogdk?t=110

How to tell me you sweat hard without just saying it.

Zzzzzz - so it's extra clear for the shortbus crowd: yes, and their are vision points on the side. And I poke mine out.

Ty for posting that. +1

I knew I had seen that, or a similar one, recently, but couldn't remember where it was.

Those videos are very helpful...even for the veteran players.

.... good god.

The first 5 seconds of that first video explicitly show that the sides have VISIBILITY points, not vision ports.  Visibility points let enemies see you.  You can't see through these points.

The VISION ports are the cupola and base of gun.  These let you see enemy tanks.

If your vision ports are behind a building and your side/rear is sticking out, enemies can shoot you without you being able to see them.

Really amusing complaining about the shortbus crowd when you belong in it.

to nitpick a bit, we both said vision points, not ports, points related to vision, regardless if that's in or out points, while port, yes, that would imply one on top and mantlet that govern the outgoing vision

If you are sidescraping a corner what is any crew in your tank looking through to see?

There are some map conditions that are actually a failure of this mechanic.  On Paris I have had tanks hull down under the bridge that invisitank in plain sight because the spotting check points are all covered even though big shootable parts of tank would be visible if spotted.  It can get frustrating receiving fire from a tank 70 meters away that you can't see.

I also had had this happen with an unfortunate streetlight pole making a 50 ton tank disappear.

In summary I am with you and against you.  If you poke your drivewheel out and get tracked and killed that it is on you.  But if a giant metal monster disappears in plain sight because a handful of pixels are obscured that is a poor game mechanic.

Your usage of the general phrase vision points is fine from what I read.

OP's usage of that phrase is wrong because he thinks the side hull is able to see enemies -- which is wrong.  I explicitly uppercased the different term (i.e. visibility) in my previous reply because I think the use of the word "vision" in both phrases is contributing to the confusion.  The side/rear hull VISIBILITY points cannot detect enemies.  The cupola/gun VISION ports can.

But you can ignore all that and just logically think of the situation -- the tank crew can't see out of the side/rear hull.  Enemies can see the side/rear hull, though, and can shoot it.

You only have two vision ports and they're on your turret(very close together) and there are seven spotting points on a tanks. One vision point has to see one of those seven spotting points to see a tank.

My crew can see out the sides of my tank, I need some help from the enemy first to clear out the nasty armor blocking their view.

For those unable to visualize here is a crude paint explanation.
