In this guide I would like to talk about limiting FPS in the games (including World of Tanks) and the benefits of doing that. Not many players know that PRO players limit their FPS and why, so I decided to make this guide for you. This is an interesting topic to talk about that I would like to share my knowledge on it. I hope that after reading this guide you will have clear answer and understanding of the topic. To start off we will need to talk about the way the GPU, display, and V-sync work.

Disclaimer: This guide contains a lot of useful information which is good to know, however not everyone will be able to apply it. You will be able to follow this guide if your computer is able to have more FPS than the refresh frequency of your monitor. Keep reading to find out what that means!

What is refresh rate and how does it work?

What is a V-sync and how does it work?

What happens when your GPU is too slow?

How does mice / keyboard input involved into this?

V-sync allows us to prevent tearing and makes the input delay stable, BUT longer which is unacceptable when it comes to competitive gaming. This is the primary reason you should NOT enable the V-sync. The build-in feature in World of Tanks is unfortunately doesn't provide the most stable and fasted input latency that you can get by using other methods. This is why instead of enabling V-sync we will limit the FPS instead, which will give us stable low latency.

Note: If you are experiencing TEARING issues, you should consider looking into Fast Sync / Enhanced Sync methods.

How to limit FPS in World of Tanks properly?

Disclaimer: Don't hurry to turn on the VSync ...

Limiting FPS allows you to stabilize tank's responsiveness

Saves power, noise and wear on computer

Probably reduces input lag

Reason #247 to run Aslains mod pack. Its right there, pick your poison 30 to 120 fps

This AMD fanboy could not get this to look good on my monitor, I think I was getting screen tearing or crispy sparkly textures. Never followed up.

Thanks for the response I appreciated it! I'm trying to complete this guide ASAP as it covers a lot of interesting material that can be used by many players. Additionally, this guide talks about the reason the PRO players are concentrated on getting higher FPS and etc. Can't wait to finish this guide and see different responses / thoughts about this. Anyone who wants to share their opinion is welcome here, and I also would encourage to share your requests for the next guide topic. I find making this guides pretty fun and an interesting experience!

Everyone loves Fat Chicks, they're like Mopeds, fun to ride but you don't want anyone to know you're riding one.

Sorry for a long delay, due to marathon. Right now I have started working on the guide and I expect to start to update it daily. I hope that somewhere by the end of this or next week this guide will be fully completed.
