We’ve developed changes specifically geared toward improving the matchmaking system. These updates will take place with the next server restart and are intended to improve the matchmaking experience at all tiers of the game.

The changes look to address comfort levels players have with their tanks while they are still learning them, providing an optimal experience to ease you into each new tier of the game. While queue times have increased slightly with the implementation of the new monitoring system, it will allow matchmaking to make tier range within a match much tighter than previously in many cases.

As always, we encourage feedback on the matchmaking system and will continue watching for ways we can improve the gameplay experience in World of Tanks.

Will a new MM tier chart be released along with this change?

Awesome, I think I heard Overlord talking about this, isn't it that tanks with less than 10~20 battles will have a lower matchmaking value? Looking forward to this, thanks for listening! :)

These changes don't necessarily alter matchmaking for players experienced with their tanks, but I'll ask if we can put together an updated tier chart.

When I will consider MM is optimized is when I am in position 1 or 2 for every map haha!

Uhm... didn't the changes happen about a week ago? That's when I personally started noticing the changes such as "no arty" matches, and slightly tighter tiered matches, and the MM taking a little longer to pair us up.

Also, every once in a while, I still get thrown to the wolves. Yesterday in my Matilda, I was put up against IS-3's and Tiger II's, but it's not very frequent. Same thing happened in my Churchill, Pz B2 and Pz 735 (A).

Hopefully you've listened to the community and made changes like...

Take the tier 4 scout tanks and have them "max out" at tier 6.

Make any vehicle under tier 5 only play with tanks 1 tier greater than itself (except for "bad platoon" mixes)

Make it impossible for any tank to play with a tank more than 3 tiers higher than itself (except for "bad platoon" mixes)

I know you guys want people to buy gold rounds to overcome these conditions but all it really does it turn away new players (the same way that not having premium prevented 2 friends from playing the game except by random chance...  bravo on that change btw)

*Edit* I read your post again, and I am wondering if you are re-implementing the changes in "balance weight" to tanks that are stock so they are not balanced against fully upgraded tanks at the same value.

Nope. We've just implemented some monitoring features to receive more data. This caused increased time before the battle start and gave MM possibility to choose a bit better.

It will be more improved next week. But, of course, it's only a start.

For now yes. But the question about limiting the max number of SPG per team is under consideration now.

It's easy, just don't have tier 7's in tier 10 battles.

I'm just an Arty player (for now), and seeing 6 Arty's (not often) in each team  is not so fun.. at least for those heavy, medium tank users.
do you have and idea what the max would be?
I'd say,

Low Tier Arty's = Max 4.
High Tier Arty's = Max 3

My feedback before even seeing the changes at work would be more transparency.  I liked how the MM chart was available, but I'm curious to know why it's not as easily provided now.  In addition, the old chart had pretty basic steps taken by the MM to determine what battle tier you'd be in, which helped determine whether you were in appropriate battles or "getting screwed" too frequently.  Now it's as if people are frustrated but they just can't pinpoint what they are frustrated about, as they don't understand what should actually occur.
