Sounds of sporadic rifle fire break across the ridge line. In the distance, the deep rumble of American heavy artillery echoes up and down the valley. The Allied offensive is about to begin!. Strung out behind the lead German tank is a motley column of worn panzers and tired, but experienced, German infantry. This is all that is left to plug the breach in the front lines . . . Outnumbered, outgunned, the odds would seem heavily against the battered German Kampfgruppe and they would be, except for the lone, solitary figure on top of the lead Tiger tank . This man is the Kampfgruppe Commander. He has seen every major action in the war; France, 1940; Russia, 1941; Tunisia, 1942; Sicily and Italy, 1943; and now, in 1944, he defends Fortress Europe from the Allied Invasion. He is the Panzer Leader.

We are an mostly over 40 (age) social gaming clan. Sense of humor and a degree in sarcasm is a must have! It is very important that you are a correct fit without the unnecessary drama of some of the other German clans.

You must be a fan of German Tanks and History and be prepared to use German tanks in events.

We are looking to expand the WoT membership, for platoons, and strongholds. We also do an internal clan event since WOT has canceled most of theirs.

Membership is by invitation only after you meet us on Team Speak. We will have a very mature leadership and almost all members are over 40. We have a lot of retired military. We might except an occasional youngblood with good stats and is a good fit with the senior aged tankers.

Are you sick and tired of being treated like you are second class because you have some affiliation for German tanks and history? We are your clan.

Requirements:

We accept applications over 40+, Relaxed mature gamers, English and German speakers from all parts of the world.  There are no requirements on tiers, win rate blah blah, just a regular pulse!

Have a Mic and be on Team Speak when in game

Remember this is a very mature clan most are over 40, we even have one who is over 70

Rest assured, we have no political agenda or revolutionary goals. We are a group of individuals that tend to have a similar background: An intense interest in WWII, lots of reading and knowledge on the subject, a yearning to keep this fascinating piece of history alive, and a desire to understand a bit more about it from a World of Tanks perspective. Again, we are no more anti-American then say a Confederate Civil War re-enactor, or a Red Coat re-enacting the American War of Independence. It is a hobby, not a way of life, and the hobby requires that both sides of the conflict be represented. Simple put, you can't play "Good Guys" and "Bad Guys" with only the "Good Guys" being represented.

PM me if you are interested

This may be as good a time as any to mention the actual and REAL History of the American Ghost Army.   This was a very real thing many of us might know about with sketchy details.  It was an actual Military Command during WWII operating in the European Theater and was formall known as the "23rd Headquarters Special Troops".   Essentially their purpose was to create the illusion of an impressively large allied invasion force using inflatable "tanks" and other media to trick the German Command into believing they faced a much more formidable foe. The German Command as we know now completely fell for the ruse and were fooled by the tactic.

It should be noted, the real "Ghost Army" was a striclty US Military command, it was not a mixed German/American unit, though some American GI's of German heritage served in the unit.  In point of fact there WAS a unified German/American of significance in operation during the years before and breifly during the shoot war years of WWII. This was of course the German-American Bund ostensibly a "friendship" organization that in fact had militia style aspects and was itself an extension of a previous organization created at the direction of German Deputy Furher Rudolph Hess.  The Bund  was later broken up after committing a variety of offenses including draft evasion though it had formally ceased operations after the attack on Pearl Harbor

Only recently the President and US Congress formally recognized the work of this unit with a Congressional Gold Medal.

The "Ghost Army" was not, never was, built around admiration for German-American ideals, or with sympathy for the German military.  In my opinion it is a disservice to the memory of Amerian Veterans who served in the 23rd or in any capacity in Allied Forces of WWII to co-opt the name "Ghost Army" in this fashion though we tolerate such behavior frequently in this Nation.
