Hello, I am a former player (played the most In 2018). I am considering playing this game again.

I have so many questions and not sure which ones to ask. I think I'm mainly concerned with how my favorite tanks (Ferdinand and JP e100) are doing. Are they playable? Is the style of gameplay still the same?

Has the game changed drastically? I tried catching up on some of the updates but there's quite a bit that has changed.

Thanks in advance!!!

They're playable for sure. A lot of people will tell you that they've become unplayable because the armor doesn't hold up against premium shells, but truth be told, that was already the case in 2018. The tanks are still fun for what they're supposed to do in battle; they play a supporting role on heavy flanks that can cut through enemies with their high alpha and pen.

Good on you for trying to do a bit of research before taking the plunge.

Come on in, the water's fine!

They are nothing but slow, huge, hp pinatas.  Neither of them do well in the new meta.

Speed, premium ammo spam, auto-loader spam, armor upgrade on heavies, penetration upgrades vs what you will face, etc etc etc...

Armor is poor with weak spots vs tanks with no weak spots.

WAY to slow to react to the "jets" they will encounter.

Their penetration drop-off is too drastic vs 300mm armor they will face.

Reload for ONE-shot vs auto-loader spam - death by dps.

I have not seen them doing well.  JE100 is viable but the Ferdinand simply dies once spotted.

Go forth and buy yourself a cockroach and then you can enjoy the LT/MT/TD experience.

The E-100 is doing just fine.  The Elephant, not so much but, it's still workable.

as someone who plays the ferdi rn (3 marking it) Is it good? not really. Is it bad? not at all sure all of the tanks with the same/similar gun (skorps, borsing, jpanther 2) have more going for them, but Ferdi can still bounce non prem hits (and excells in top tier games) non top tier its a great support tank to the heavies

Don’t have either, but from fighting them Ferdinand seems to be a fairly easy target while the jageroo is still scary if you don’t have a good angle on it.

Some of the equipment 2.0 options probably help at least the jageroo (improved aiming? IRM?)

Search YouTube; W.o.T., XX tank.  You'll find many tank reviews of the tanks you're asking about.

With all due respect, with only 4,389 battles of experience combined with years of inaction, trying to compete at tier VIII+ vs. the typical opponent that has 20,000+++ battles is only going to result with you being absolutely crushed by vastly more experienced players, over and over again.  The result will be you'll get frustrated with losing and quit.   Not good.

Being away from the game for years, you're essentially a rookie again and you'll need to relearn everything.  Start out at tiers I to IV, which are for learning the game and only move up to a higher tier when you start to win most of your battles, indicating you're ready for moving up a tier.

Come back or don't, your choice. Everything is playable to one extent or another. Is your question "What's OP today?". You already set yourself up for failure. Please, come back and play. This is a great game with great people/players. Like Whistling Death stated, "Start slow, start low". Games are meant to be fun. If you want to run up to Tier 8 and be dominant, your dreams will be crushed. Welcome.

This has been said to you before and you haven't listened, but dropping to tiers 1-4 is only for literally new players, not players looking to improve. Tiers 5-7 are better for that.

And anyone has the capability to play at any tier with any number of battles. 4k battles is plenty to compete at tier 10.

I play the Ferd too still, not as much as you are though.   I find the armor still is effective if you equip it to pivot, shoot, pivot back quickly.  I bounce 40%80%ish a game.  Turbo, Rotation, Aiming.   My other setup is just standard sniper stuff.

Ok I shall play some games on my Stug III G soon! My favorite lower-tier tank.

Higher tier seems scary now, player must have got a lot better.

The stock Ferd is crap and will get you frustrated. Once you've researched all of the equipment, then it can be a fun tank. I take mine out for a spin and depending on map/situation I either roll with the heavys and snipe like a TD.
