Greetings Tankers!

 

If you haven't seen the news just yet, a one-time event based on the collaboration between World of Tanks and Terminator 2: Judgement Day!

 

 

You will have from January 12 through January 26 to earn rewards inspired by the iconic movie and offers up unique decals, inscriptions, 2D styles, and vehicle commanders from the Terminator 2 universe.

 

You can also obtain the T-832, a Premium tank with special built-in visual effects.

Did I miss a page or is this basically a marathon except you have to pay to participace?

It IS a marathon. Just like the one last year for the ShPTK-TVP 100. It's set up in a "Battle Pass" type of format, which I think many players preferred over the other type of marathon. 

The best part of this marathon is that there isn't a conflict with other events, like Battle Pass. So, hopefully, when the next Season of BP comes out, the "points" on the tanks used during this event should be "reset".

The sad part about it is that there's no way to actually "earn" the tank at the end. The ONLY way to get it is to "buy" it for 3500 Gold.

Initial read is some good, some bad. The tank skin looks very cool. I like that it’s not some OP monstrosity. The BP method works well for the grind IMO. Yes, the grind is extreme, but that’s on purpose and honestly not different than any other marathon. 
 

Locking the tank behind a paywall, even a reasonable one such as this, is disgusting. It’s the principle of the thing, and it’s reasonable now, but we all know how that works. Ditch that part of it for the next go around and it would be fine.

Its no different than any other marathon in this game where most will combo grinding and paying a %. Just set up differently. 

 

Ships has been doing it this way for a couple of years now with the dockyard events.

It IS different from the other marathons WoT has had. In every "previous" marathon, IF a player were able to "complete" all the stages of the marathon, they "earned" the "final prize", which was a tank.

This time though, in order to "get" (not earn) the tank, a player HAS TO spend at least 3500 Gold. Without "buying" the tank (or any other item), the best a player can hope for in this marathon is 2 Commanders (John Conner and T-800).

There is a Prime package due on the 12th. Can I assume it will be Terminator themed too?

I am also replete with gold so I'm all in on D-Day.

 

My only gripe is that all the characters are locked as commanders. I have more than enough commanders.

 

I want the choice of role and nation for all these personalities that I am swapping for gold.

Exactly, this is my only [edited]about the event.

I'm not one to complain about free [edited], but this is a killer for me.

Yes and no. There are lots of players who are already flush with gold from the Christmas gift boxes. As for myself, I have nothing else left to spend it on in game as I basically have all the tanks in my garage, nearly 700. So, yeah, I'll drop the gold down to do this mission and pick up another premium tank. A tier 8 for 3,500 gold and playing for 2+ weeks, which I do anyway, isn't a bad deal.
