We have finally sorted through the 618 correct answers we received for the Twitter quiz.

Here are some stats:

For Oceania questions:
There were a total of 161 correct answers.
Spoiler

For NA questions:
There were a total of 457 correct answers.
Spoiler

As noted in the forums, some of the questions were found to have more than one answers - and, as per the demand of the players and/or the majority of answers, some other answers were accepted.

These are the questions that were modified:

Q3. July 1942, General Rommel and the Panzer Africa Army were close to Alexandria. For allies, this was a bad situation. What did Churchill do?
Both Montgomery and Gott were accepted.

Q5. What type of tank has the longest-ranged tank-on-tank kill, and what did it shoot at?
Challenger 1, killing T-55 was the answer.
Challenger I killing T-62 accepted as correct.

Q4. How many times did a well-known Star Trek actorget shot during WWII?
Both 6 and 7 were accepted as answers.

Q5. Which comic book character was classified as 4F andwhy?
Both Superman and Captain America/Steve Rogers were accepted as correct.

Q2. Which tank did the US Army declare obsoletefirst: M4A3E8(76) or M26?
The M26 was accepted as the correct answer - even though it has a "limited standard" status (The_Chieftain's answer)

Q4. How many Sherman Fireflies were built for the US Army?
81 and 100 are accepted as correct.

Finally, at the end of sorting through the answers, we realized that no one was able to answer all the questions correctly.

We then decided, instead of modifying the premium account prizes, to save these prizes for some of the events in November (the premium accounts were solely for those that answered 15 questions, and no one was able to do so!). Therefore, you will have the opportunity yet again, this month, to win a premium account. We will share this information in more detail when the event is posted.

We did however change the requirements for the 3000 gold prizes. All of those that were able to answer 10 or more questions will receive 3000 gold. These winners are:

Oceania:
CtfC487: 10 answers
DarkElf: 10 answers
diediealldie: 12 answers
W0lfy: 14 answers

NA:
Azrael90: 11 answers
Felsig49: 10 answers
GrrrRawr: 11 answers
Jamayes: 10 answers
Revelat0r: 12 answers
SophiPsych: 10 answers

Grats to all of you!

Also, we randomly chose 4 players per question to win 200 gold.

Here is the list of winners for both Oceania and NA, with the amount of gold won.

Spoiler

Finally, seeing how this Twitter quiz ran, and seeing the issues that arose, we will not be doing this kind of Twitter quiz format anymore. We will return to the format of holding one-day Twitter quizzes, with the addition of dividing the questions between NA and Oceania.

The next Twitter quiz will be on General Patton - the questions will be checked and double checked. http://forum.worldof...le_honoring.gif

You certainly did - I kept trying to figure out  way to give you the premium but.. you didn't give me any numbers for the Star Trek question :( So there was no way around it!

I know ... as soon as I sent the answer (and re-read the question) I realized it was incomplete, was kicking myself because I had the answer there, just did not put it in the email. :(

Thanks for your effort etc, it must not have been easy trying to sort through all the questions/answers etc.

To give a little detail.

Montgomery or Gott: Gott was selected to take over 8th Army, which is the most accurate answer. However, his aircraft was shot down and he was killed as he was en route to take command, so Monty slipped in. If you got the replacement of Auchinlek, you were close enough.

The T-55 or T-62: Both are referenced. Several years ago the actual gunner popped up (I believe it was on the RSDG website before that went down) claiming T-55, but others who claim to have been there said T-62. Frankly, at that distance, I'm not sure they could tell anyway. As long as you were thinking Chally 1 vs Old Soviet Thingy, you were on the right track.

M26 or M4: M26 was phased out long before M4A3 was, but when the decision to declare M26 obsolete was made, there were some units that just couldn't be re-equipped. As a result, M26 was declared 'limited standard' to allow it to remain 'legally' in service, but it seems that nobody bothered to finalise the paperwork once the tanks were actually withdrawn. (Kindof like people forgetting to admit Ohio to the union, I guess). A block obsolesence occurred in 1957 when a list was put out of vehicles which were to be officially declared obsolete, which not only included M4A3, but also M46, its two-generation successor! So, in practical terms, M26 was considered obsolete first.

Uh, which star trek actor was shot during WW2?

I'm thinking it was either Scotty (the chief engineer) or McCoy (the chief doctor)

I think there would be an outside chance of Kirk, Spock, or Sulu; but doubt very much it was Uhura, Yates, Chapel, or Checov.

and that's not taking into consideration the 'next generation', 'deep space nine', 'voyager' or 'enterprise'.

and let's just forget the movies.

Also, at what distance did the challenger kill the T-55/62?

I will be sending out the gold payments today. I usually allow 24 hours after I post the winners to be sure there are no spelling mistakes in their names.

I had sent in an email but didn't get a response. On Question 5 for NA on the 29th, the answer i believe you gave was incorrect. The question was "What tank was named after a 1930s car designer that was imprisoned and died 2 days before his release?" Your answer was "Ferdinand" which cannot be correct since it was named after Ferdinand Porsche and he did not die in prison.

Couple suggestions.

Best time to do such events are:

1)Sat/Sun or Holidays.
2) do not intersect with clan wars times.

I also believe two answers on Sunday the 30th (NA) given were incorrect.

Q4: How many Sherman Fireflies were built for the US Army?

A4: 81

The question is how many built, not received for the US Army.  According to this link 100 were built for the US Army and 80 were shipped.  If your source for 81 is this link, then again the answer is incorrect has this is just a shipping receipt and not the complete build list.  Also only 80 (not 81 as build 61 was not shipped) were received by the US Army.  The same source providing the second link, is the same source as the first link (which references the second link) and is very clear about 100 being built.

Here is a another source link with being 100 built (3rd paragraph from the bottom).

Q5: How many M3 Medium tanks did the Soviet Union receive under Lend-Lease?

A5: 1386

The question is for how many received by the Soviet Union, not built for them as a number of them were lost at sea.  According to this link in which the tables are populated from the entrance examinations data from the Red Army's Directorate General of AFVs.  976 M3 Lee's were received.  Add 11 more if you want to include those recovered from a sunk ship.
