i bumped into a forum player and his platoon mate the other night, i had shot him and his buddy a bit and really wanted to get a kill and was a bit too impatient becasue i recognised the name and was caught by his team mate then took a nasty arty hit finishing me off, pity really those two running about on 3% and 7% went on to carry a win, i should have been a tad more relaxed and the kill would have come. Lesson learned i guess, na gotta get those names.

My favorite is seeing stat-naysayers in game.  They generally sit around 49% or less and watching them play explains why they're average to below average.

It also explains why they feel a single player can't consistently swing matches--because they generally can't.

That reminds me of a T44 driver nagged at me while I was on my Ferd on Karelia map, sitting on the north edge of the cliff watching the western edge.  He parked next to me, telling me to get off the cliffs, hull-downing, calling me a noob, and etc. I was busy killing a Tiger P, a T20, a Panther II, and wounded a few mores.  While we were up 12-3 and no more tanks will come to my direction and I got fed up with his nagging.  I pulled out his stats on web and to my shock.  His global win rating was at 33 percent with over 2500+ battles played, 41 percent hit ratio, 16 percent survival ratio, and 225 xp per battle.  I told him instead of telling me what to do... He should focus on improving on his stat before he can tell anyone else what to do. http://forum.worldof...Smile_smile.gif

I enjoy running into people from the forums in game. So far from the people posted in the thread i'v run into Mow_Mow once that i can remember, and have been on Nichts' team several times.

I've run into a few from time to time....though I usually only notice it when I'm directly engaged in fighting them. It's usually that moment when I think to myself 'Self, you should really read the names on the enemy team before going out there!'  ;)

It's because

1) your forum-fu is weak
2) you don't boast about your stats enough on the forums
3) you don't make grandiose enough statements on the forums proclaiming some point that you believe is right no matter what everyone else says
4) your reputation is not below 500 nor is it above 500
5) you weren't the first to get a certain tank, or didn't get it while only a handful of people had it so people don't associate your name with that tank
6) Your player rank isn't crazy high (goes well with #2)

Take your pick :P

My most memorable was running into Marxist as an enemy a couple of times in lower tier matches. Both times he carried their team to victory. That guy's got serious game.

It is equally enjoyable finding one of the regular stat boasters/flamers on the forum on the opposing team and summarily wiping them off the battlefield and then listen to them complain that they have a nub team. Happened twice in one evening with this gem..

If you recorded or remembered the players name, please PM it to me.  I am assembling a set of distribution curves for the in-game stats on the NA server based on a sample set of players across the spectrum.  Really low end is much harder to find than high end or middle because we have no Hall of Shame.  Need low end data.  Thanks

What you could do is write down the name of every player in every match you play, and (hopefully) use a program that logs these stats. Otherwise when you are looking for specific kinds of players, you are introducing tons of bias.

Yeah, whenever I see Mow_Mow on the enemy team I'm relieved because he's going to end up TK'ing half his team.

When he's on my team however. Game over man, game over!

I had somebody I never met before greet me by name in a random battle. Kind of strange and nice I guess?  Adds a bit of pressure though. Sometimes I utterly fail just like everybody else, and it's embarrassing to think that somebody actually might remember.

If you see me, only watch when I do something amazing, okay?

My nephew, who only plays when he platoons with me, always gets recognized in games.  People say hello to him all the time (like 1 in 25 games or so?)

He hasn't even posted in the forums once. I never get any love!

Boohoo ;_;.  I need to forum whore more.

lol, that was me [The OP here].

I don't even recall if we won that round or not, but I remember it was in ENSK cause I nearly blew up a railcar laughing at accidentally giving you a "wtf, do I know you?" type of moment.

:)

We won that battle, just barely. Our last heavy was capping their base, and he managed to get everybody but their last heavy. And then our last guy, an SPG, did a shot of faith and took him out. Very close battle.

I was somewhat annoyed at the way it played out though.  I started out near our base, sniping from betwixt buildings and bushes at their T29. Right beside me was a Lowe. We dealt with the T29, then there was an IS-3 playing well with good coverage that we weren't having any luck with.  So I took my Slugger up beside the tracks, thinking to flank his position and force him out of there. A beautiful plan... Except: Failure 1, my first "Surprise!" shot with my 90mm gun bounced off the perfect broadside of the IS-3 at point blank range.  Failure 2, my team mate in the Lowe utterly failed to take advantage of the distraction I caused. Failure 3, IS-3's first shot took out my gun and his second shot took out my tracks. So I couldn't shoot and I couldn't run away. I only got 1 hit on him just before he finished me off. And that was my daily double, for all of 500 xp or something.

:(
