Not sure where to ask this but if i already have the top motor and gun on my T44 will i have to research the new motor and gun or will i get it automaticly?

You will have to research the motor, since it will be a new one.

You won't have to research the LB-1 gun, if you have it researched for T-54

Can the developers bring the T-606 into the game? This would be a great tank for the game and is big enough to be a MEDIUM Tank.

I have a question regarding The M1A2 and 105-mm Derp gun. What are the advantages and disadvantages of the two (I have an E2 and wondering which gun I should mount.)?

Personally, I use 105mm Derp gun. Though it has longer reloading time, it deals tons of damage. But it's more difficult to handle. I

Also I would suggest you to try all guns and find out, which one suits you more

Also you can search 'American Vehicles' Forum section to find some players' opinions on the matter.

Hmph! 10 day suspension -- not RO -- by a very overzealous, heavy-handed wannabe supermod, ambiguously citing "the rules" without mentioning which specifically were violating. Ah, I love knowing when I've hit a nerve. ^_^

Vallter, that the symbol of the hammer and sickle is whitewashed doesn't mean it isn't being flown on your flag, or at least the flags of those who seek to "keep the peace" . . .

At any rate, now that that dirty laundry is being aired out properly, here is the actual question:

Is there any intent to remove the RIDICULOUS mechanic of having an engine catch fire from a transmission hit? Is there any evidence at all of a tank being undone in actual combat by it's transmission fluids catching fire from the impact of a shell? Any at all? Has Overlord supplied any citation of sources since this question was first asked more than a year ago, or will this mechanic remain simply because it would be "radical" to remove such a silly thing from a game that likes to take itself too seriously?

Have a wonderful day,

1 - personally, I do not ask to suspend anyone in the threads. Moderators are constantly monitoring the threads and see rules to be followed. And I'm very glad they do this and I'm also grateful for their volunteer activity.
2 - yes, there are realistic references.
3 - glad that you continue asking questions and stay with us!

Q:

I have heard that there is a "module saving throw" in addition to the "critical hit roll" if a module gets hit. Do these have something to do with

1) module absorbing entire shell damage, tank health doesn't go down, resulting for example in a destroyed radio within a 100% tank
and
2) module absorbs some of the damage and gets damaged, tank health goes down resulting for example in a damaged ammo rack and the tank going from 100% to 75%

I made a graph about how the critical system might work. Can you confirm or correct this graph?

Spoiler

That is my speculation.

With the decreased ability of HE to do general damage, and with an EFFECTIVE increase in armor relative to AP, are there any plans to tighten up the tier spreads (especially for arty), make lower tiers more useful in higher tier battles, and if neither, why not?

Can we get a proper explanation of why the M103 has (according to Overlord in EU Q&A thread) been dropped from 7.1, despite us having been told that the tank is ready for testing/balancing for a long time? Seems like a big middle finger to US tank players.

Given that the poll Overlord's blog ran recently showed 42% wanted US/USSR revisions before French (14%), it seems like an unusual decision. Or are you hoping that by introducing another tank line with post-it-note armour that we will stfu about the T34/T30?

View PostKroganCommander, on Dec 12 2011 - 23:23, said:

I have but one question,

Why do you and your company continuously push back the M103?

The polls and community feedback was the main reason why we had decided to make US tree changes before USSR tree changes, if the USSR tree changes will have to be postponed.

French vehicles was something we promised to do even before the game release. They are almost ready now and we see no reasons to postpone them because of American vehicles exchange delay. Or you would prefer to wait the next update for 1.5-2 months?

The American vehicles are ready and should be balanced only. It's a question of testing, not development. BUT I want to remind you that the implementation of these vehicles goes along with replacement/move in Tech Tree. This a server-side technologically difficult process, which requires a lot of efforts. With the 7.0 server updates (multi-cluster system etc.) the process we had previously can't be implemented and a totally new one should be developed. To ensure that everything goes smooth (since we don't want our users to lose some vehicles in process) lots and lots of tests are required.

We can only beg our sincere pardon for the delay and ask you for patience.

A note on the transmission fire thing. While I agree that WWII era German transmission fluid is flammable, I imagine its flash / ignition point would be much higher than that of diesel or gasoline and its vapour level would be lower. In other words it's a lot less flammable than fuel.

Wouldn't it then make sense that hits to the transmission would have a much lower chance of causing a fire?

I am also interested in any specific reports of transmission fires caused by enemy shell impacts. While I'm not that much a tank nerd as others on the forum, I would have thought that particular circumstance to be unusual enough to have heard of if it happened.

It's planned to separate engine and transmissions modules in future. It will change the system we have now.

OL confirmed that the M103 is coming in 7.2, along with the premie IS-6/8 whatever and the 88mm Jagdtiger.
The M103 is by far the most important feature of this patch, so the chances of it being stripped again are close to 0%.
Plus the 7.2 update itself seems relatively small so I'm actually expecting it early/mid January. The 7.1 public test may come out tomorrow. It seems like WG can pump out these content patches very quickly. On the other hand, the network/coding patches have been frickin' disasters as far as time is concerned.

I would not be so sure, that Premium IS will take place in 7.2. It can be rescheduled to the update with USSR Tech Tree changes.

Is there a place where we can see what actually made it into the Update 7.0 as of patch day 14Dec2011?

Thank you. So far the graphics are great. Appreciate the effort.

You can find them here. Adaptive Camouflage was not planned for 7.0, but announced as separate future consumable.

Can we get a 2012 plan sometime in January?  I know you all are scrambling to get  7.1 in this year and deliver on French tanks in 2011.  Sometime in January I would enjoy seeing a rough layout of the development plans.  I think identifying the quarter they are targeted for instead of specific patches would be better.

Key things I am interested in:
1 - 5 man platoons, hopefully this is a 1Q - 2012 addition
2 - New game mods, I think there were 3 discussed, Garage, Assualt (1 flag), Escort something about only 5 tanks can capture flag and they have to be protected.
3 - Release of North America in Clan wars.  Is there any chance you would move us to North America prior to the combination of the Clan Wars servers into a single server?
4 - Combination of all servers onto single global map for clan wars
5 - Are 30v30 or larger maps planned for at all?
There are also a ton of tanks expected in 2012, British, Japanese, German TD line split, Russian Heavy line split.

5 man platoons will probably come with 30vs30 battles. We cannot give you any exact ETA on them for now.

New game modes will be added gradually over Q1-2 2012

North American continent for clan wars is something almost finished. We are awaiting to release it in Q1 2012 Also we will implement some changes to the Global Map for NA before moving the warfare to the NA continent.

The unite of the Global map is something that requires finishing some mechanics and parts of the Map first. Everything depends on that so I cannot give you any ETA on that.

Could we please get a new article or some type of announcement that focuses on the plans for new game modes?  Way back in September we were given some info that mentioned:

    *      Company battle divisions: tier 10 max with no overall tier limitation, tiers 8, 6, and 4 max with the respective overall tier limitation - Q4 2011;
    *      Assault (one team attacks, the other one defends the base) and Encounter battle (two teams are to capture the base in the center of the map) - Q4 2011;
    *      Garage battle – players can use several tanks (one after another) in one battle (“limited respawn”)  - Q1 2012;
    *      Escort (only a few tanks from the team have the ability to capture enemy's base, the opposite team is to stop potential invaders) - Q1 2012;
    *      Historical battle - faction based battles with historically justified restrictions on vehicles and modules available - 2012.

I believe new game modes are the most anticipated updates we are all waiting for.  There has also been some rumor that 5 man platoons will be a game mode and they won't be dropped into random pubs.  Any information you can provide on what is upcoming would be greatly appreciated.

You can check out Tiered Company battles just logging on the server. They have been implemented already.

We will release new info on the game modes soon for sure. Please, follow the news.

Vallter:
In regards to crew training, it's been stated(i think in the previous overlord Q&A thread) that  the XP the crew gets is the base unmodified XP at all times.
That means that if i get a 2000XP daily double crew only gets 1000XP

my problem is that if i enable "improved crew training" then crew will STILL get 1000XP as the base(+the improv bonus based on that XP) essentially wasting half your earned XP of the daily double.

¿can you confirm this?, because if that's the case i know almost all players are being mislead thinking that all the XP of the double whent to their crew and there's no mention or big warning sign when activating this anywhere.

why isn't the full XP received(essentially, daily double or 5x bonus for those special events) being used for the crew?

Nope, it's wrong.

XP crew gets is equal to the amount of XP you receive including modifiers.
For example you receive 1000 XP. All your crew* receives +1000XP.
You receive 1000 XP x 2 for the first victory = +2000 XP to each crew member.
You receive 1000 XP and have 'improved crew training' enabled - each crew member receives 1000 XP besides the most unskilled one, which receive 2000 XP instead.
You receive 1000 XP x 2 and have 'improved crew training' enabled - each crew member receives 2000 XP besides the most unskilled one, which receive 4000 XP instead. So the 'improved crew training' grants x2 XP boost to the most unskilled tanker.
*wounded crew members do not receive any or receive less XP (depending on the battle situation)

Also take in count that this system will work for more or less similar trained crew. If they will have big difference in XP, the most unskilled  ones will be trained first.

We consider different variants with 5 men platoon implementation. You should understand that it will be very difficult to balance such platoons. I can state for sure that such platoons will enter 30vs30 battle modes. But there is no 'set in stone' version for them in other game modes.

Has there been any consideration for adding the auto-loader on french tanks as a hitbox and module?

What are the effects of a dead crewman on the autoloader time and the drum reload time? Does it effect the former as well as the latter or just the latter?

Also, question:
Why does it cost 50-60k or so XP to research a chaffee/T50-2/VK2801 when it costs 14k for the AMX12T? You might tell me there is a difference in performance, but you would be wrong. Considering the autoloader, they have similar firepower, similar speed, similar power to weight ratio, and similar armor. The only real significant difference is in their hit points, where the AMX12T has 200ish less.

The tier 6 AMX13-75 is basically a chaffee with an autoloader and 100 more hit points for about half the XP cost. And these tanks are profitable, unlike the Chaffee/T50-2/VK2801.

So you can research a light tank for over 50K XP and get something that preforms around abouts tier 5.5 or you can spend considerably less time and experience to research a true tier 6 light tank and actually have the  cash to afford to play it.

You need to seriously reconsider your light tanks.

1)We think that French vehicles do not need another ammo rack-)
2)The drum reload time will increase on 50%
3)The Tier 5 light tanks you mentioned are TOP tiers in their branches. Such vehicles will always cost much in XP and credits for maintenance.

are there any plans to make top tiers more credit viable?

I love the new tank company tiers, makes it so much more accessible, but there are zero, and I mean ZERO absolute tank companies being played because it costs too much to repair tier 9-10 tanks on a loss. I don't mind playing tier 8's but my top tier tanks are only useful for randoms and clan wars which I don't do. IMO right now tier 9-10 heavies and meds and 7-8 arty are for all intents and purposes being shelved, and that's very sad and not a good sign for longevity. I'd much rather play my E-50 in a group that uses strategy than in a random that's just, well, random. Why even level past 8 any more?

You aren't going to find an official answer to the first question (I asked it....4? times in Overlord's QA thread and never got an answer, just the question deleted) but supposedly it's going to be something to do with the expanded crew skills.

Most likely, they were killed by "spalling"  That is to say, the shockwave of the explosion can cause the inside face of the armor to "spall" or flake off splinters of steel taht bounce around and kill people.

why is it that some tanks have to be right up on you before they even show up? they are the ones moving and you can not see them until it is to late. I am seeing a lot mor we just dinged them since the new patch. and a hell of a lot more misses. and it is not just me a lot of my clan is seeing it too. what is with taking out the “tank locking” do we have that many mamby pambys on the NA server that they can not work to get there tanks? Most in our Clan looked forward to it because it would change the game play a lot and make it better but i guess we have a lot of whiners on the NA server they need to grow up and get a pair! if the other server can do it so can we!
