@UncleJester

That's wonderful to know :)  Sorry I just saw your reply late. I was blaming WG for this instability when all this time it was the hardware that was doing it.  I had to find a solution of my own you see since WG couldn't help me.

Good fix, also You can change IRQ's if you have those issues http://www.helpwithp...rq-settings.htm
Windows sometimes does a poor job at assigning these, If you have hardware sharing the same IRQ channel disabling 1 is a quick fix, but if you want to use both, then changing is another option, just be careful to pick an unused channel so you don't create conflicts with other hardware. use at your own risk though, I've built 7 personal PC's and I know that if something goes wrong, most of the time it's my own doing. Also for crashes, bluescreens...etc., make sure your drivers are up to date, check for viruses, and for those that overclock, make sure your OC is stable by stress testing. I can't count how many times I've gotten the blue screen of death "IRQ is less than or not equal to" because of an unstable overclock, which is easily resolved by backing of or tweaking settings.

My PCI bus designations are different between my adapter and the High Definition Audio Controller.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285:  PCI bus 2, Device 0, Function 0
High Definition Audio Controller:  PCI bus 0, Device 27, Function 0

The game does freeze, but not regularly.  I have to Ctrl-Alt-Del to task manager and end task for the game.

Any ideas?

I cant help you there since a different IRQ technically should be stable.

I just wish one of the mods will make this one sticky since it has helped so many.

Unfortunately the bus used by my video card (GTS 250) and the audio controller are different. The function is the same. I was hoping this might fix my crashing, good find just the same.

If you are having crashes and is not related to the HF Audio Controller you might need the LARGE ADDRESS AWARE fix:

http://www.techpower...ad.php?t=112556

This is specially true if you see 'RED TEXTURES' in the game prior to crashes.

I shouldn't, the key to what to look for is up there.  The worse it could happen is you have no audio BUT then again why would you have two audio devices in the same system running at the same time?

Most of the problem stems from that some VIDEO card drivers also running an 'audio device' (via the HDMI output) even if you already have an onboard soundcard or a stand alone soundcard.

It stems from this, I have the same problem in Team Fortress 2 after I went hdmi to monitor.  It comes down to the fact that coders have yet to take into account that most of us are using hdmi.  I don't know about you but I can't disable the hdmi sound because its interconnected to the video.  So even though I am running a x fi card I get that random crash due to resource sharing on a sound device I will never use.  Sounds like your fix might actually address that very thing the more i think of it.  Good tip.

BTW to add to this solution some people that have asked me for some other solution to their frequent WOT client crashes were helped by using Game Booster:

If you start up gamebooster useing a shortcut, say from the desktop, gamebooster would sometimes randomly exit gameing mode closeing out wot. This happens for me, dunno if it will happen for any of you.

Anyways, dunno if Im doing something stupid lol, but how do you change the numbers? Im clicking the numbers on the properties screen and nothings changeing, as Id presume.

No it is not you. 7.2 is very buggy on my system and I have been getting CTD (Crash to Desktop) with it as well as sometimes RED 'textures' (specially in SNIPER mode) which I know is a memory leak issue dating back to CBT (closed beta-testing) and after.  This is the reason for the use of the LAA (Large Address Aware) fix for x64 OS users. I honestly thought they fixed that problem already but something in 7.2 brought it back out. 7.1.1 was relatively stable for me.

I also tried this with no luck:

http://forum.worldof...gb-or-less-ram/

FYI to make sure it is WOT, I re-installed my system, I even ZEROED all my HD (aka low level format) and installed my X64 Vista Premium and I still get CTD (WOT is the only application loaded too since I had to make sure it is WOT!) and sometimes the Splash screen won't even come up and BOOM back to desktop.  All these problems are identical to the old ones we found during CBT. Yes I did the LAA fix above and the DISABLE HD Audio Controller fix as well, no dice. I also re-installed the game every time I get an error with the same result, game plays fine for awhile then starts to just CTD.

BTW you can also try in 7.3 to set the World of Tanks.exe as 'Run as Administrator'. It solves some CTD (crash to desktop) problems for some people.

Also try these steps:

Going to check my other computer. Unfortunately, this computer's HD Audo Controller is PCI bus 0, device 20, function 2 and my video card is PCI bus 1, device 0, function 0. Hopefully I'll be able to figure out what the problem is. I crash every 7th to 8th game.

NVIDIA GeForce9400 (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM v1.2) is my display adapter. PCI bus 3, device 0, function 0. ------------ high definition audio controller location: PCI bus0, device 8, function 0. I am currently running windows 8 consumer preview on my iMac 21.5 in, and all other games run perfectly (League of Legends, Warcraft 3 The Frozen Throne), no problem with iTunes, TeamSpeak 3, Ventrilo, or Skype. but World of Tanks seems to want to crash if not every game, to every 2-3 games.(It isn't a CTD, I have to manually restart the computer [hold down the power button] and reboot back into windows. Also, sometimes I hear a loud buzzing sound when it freezes, and its continuous until the computer is powered down. Other times it will be silent, I don't know why it likes to change it up on me, but I figured I would throw that out there. The crashes can happen simply in the garage, mid-game, loading into a game, zoomed in, zoomed out. not sure if this is useful in an attempt to fix..) if any idea on how to fix the crashing problem (or even to minimize it) i would be deeply grateful for help :D The crashing is just annoying as hell... :/

Did you try this fix?

http://worldoftanks....-desktop-issue/

What are your video card temperature when running WOT? Ever thought of taking out the case cover and ventilating the computer using an desktop fan and see if this is a ventilation issue?

It hasn't been stable for me. I keep getting these random crashes where I log back into the game after the crash and see nothing but the loading screen at 100% and can hear all of the tanks shooting and dying around me, but cannot physically enter the game. I'm not sure if it's XVM or my AIO mod or something else entirely but any advice on this issue would be appreciated because it's starting to get very frustrating very fast. On top of this, sometimes when I force close the game, I can still hear the backround music of the garrage even though the Wot window is no longer open. In addition to that when I attempt to re-open WoT I receive an error message saying "WoT is all ready open."
