Searched the fora but can't find an answer.  Gun is damaged and the reticle gets larger (less accurate).  Tracks get damaged and you move and turn more slowly.  Turret gets damaged and it turns more slowly.  And on and on ... I understand the rest of the modules and their damage, but what happens when your fuel tank is damaged?  We aren't limited on fuel, so what happens?

I believe it also slows your tank down.

I'm not sure about the slow but I know it increases your engine fire chance by 50%

Is it possible that the fuel tanks sometimes blow up like the ammunition storage?

fuel tank dammage icreases your chance of a fire by 50% and most of the time its the fuel tank that will catch fire not your engine.

That makes sense.  Keeping in mind that the ammo rack is very flammable too ...

I appreciate all of the quick replies.

Is this why I heard they took the external fuel tanks off one of the Russian Tanks?

If your fuel tanks take enough damage you catch fire.

Wish a certain vehicle's fuel tanks in this game actually takes damage.

I wish after the 3 or 4 track that tank would just stop moving and tank HP damage  :P

I like that vehicle just the way it is, since I drive it

But for the OP, yes, you may spontaneously burst into flames when hit in the fuel tanks.

I thought the tanks were out there so the fire would be outside the tank and not inside. Besides, they could drop those tanks when rolling into battle, so (unless I am mistaken) they were primarily there to get around with.

They can catch fire, but not blow up like the ammo rack (but can be as deadly if the fire isn't extinguished)

The external fuel tanks on russian tanks were just extra fuel tanks. They had no internal connections to the engine or primary fuel tanks. Big gas cans in other words.

well we have a lot of different answers here.

a damaged feultank (orange indicator) doesn't do anything to you're tank. nothing noticable.

a broken feultank (red indicator) always causes fire for me, I never had a broken feultank and no fire. the last thread where I said this I challanged players to prove me wrong, so please give me a screenshot with a broken gastank without the tank having been/being lit up like a roman candle.

external feultanks are often near the internal feultank hitbox and engine hitbox, shooting visual indicators of feultanks often causes fire by hitting either the engine or destroying the feultanks.

feul tanks are often next to the engine, causing a feul-tank fire almost always cooks the engine first. (engine turns orange)feul atnks also seem to repair to "damaged status" very fast

if a powerfull enough gun damage the engine and procs the engine fire chance the engine will immidiatly break down (orange indicator immidiatly turns red). I have never seen engine fires damage the feultanks.

Can anyone link to a primary source for what fuel tank damage does.  Where does this information come from?

We should do a drag race test to see if a damage fuel tank actually slows down a tank apart from increasing the chances of a fire.

I can tell you that if you shoot an IS-4 or IS-7 in the fueltank with artillery it has a pretty good chance of becoming vaporized.

Damaged fuel tanks do increase the chance of fire.

When I first started playing I asked some people what it did and they said in previous version (not sure if it can still happen) that your tank could run out of fuel after a while (and you would be permanently immobilized).
