The black panther is the K2
The K1 is the Korean tank that is based largely on the Abrams back in the late 80s.
K2 is a much newer design drawing from characteristics of several different tanks but mixed with a lot of new Korean tech. The M1 Abrams and K2 are very different.
As for best tank...State the mission please!
City combat...MerkIV
Deep country...T-90
In the mountains...K2 Black Panther
Catch my drift?

Do numbers count? Because I think there are more M1 Abrams made than the rest of the tanks on that list combined.

The Merkava, Like many Israeli tanks/modified foreign tanks delivered to Israel are also designed for optimal performance in sandy/arid desert conditions due to obvious reasons.

I think the problem with the Type 10 in the context of voting for it in a "best Modern MBT" poll is that It's a really, really new design that surely has lots of potential with what little we've seen of it so far, But we really have yet to see how it truly performs (Mainly under all conditions.) before the tank community can really put alot of consideration into it.
Plus I think alot of tankers are put off by It's relatively light weight which could theoretically mean less protection, But we really dont know for sure yet.

Yea, sure, I can see that. MerkIV is probably best tank for both city and desert missions.

leclerc because of the armor capabilities of taking hand-held anti-tank.Yes foot soldiers because they would be in urban areas.
Why not rural areas?Well the danger of air power rises and no matter what it is easier to kill people on foot than planes in a tank.
the cities will limit the tank movement. or easier to get stuck but hey, first, mountains and swamp area can get tanks stuck or limit movement too...
Only open plains will give tanks movement but jets can kill you easily!
Helicopters can come and destroy tanks like jets can do strikes but it is just simply harder.
i think tanks is going to be soon like battleships.tanks vulnerable to air and foot soldiers in close combat.
So they will be useless nearly every where in the future.Soldiers will be harder to target for planes. While planes will probably stay in service since currently only AA rockets is effective.
AA machine guns are less effective since jets are too high for guns to hit.

I've done some reading on the AMX-56 and am always left at a loss as to why it's never even given a footnote in discussions of "best mbt" , while likewise unproven vehicles of both western and eastern origin like T-90S/MS, Leo II, etc are always present.
I ask the modern armor experts or crewmen - is there something basically wrong with the Leclerc? Or does it simply get the "French" treatment.

I like the fact the ammo is stored well to save the crew from blast, and they can carry its own breaching squad.

I'd bet money It's mostly the whole French thing, mostly the same reason Soviet/Russian tanks almost always get immediately discredited simply because of their origins.
I really think the French do get treated unfairly due to their relatively quick defeat in WW2 and the First Indochina War, (Which the United States and some Oceanic allies tried to quell and also failed even though it was more us just giving up then a huge defeat.) But really, Conquering Vietnam was a pretty amazing feat in the first place since the Vietnamese have, historically speaking been very worthy adversaries even when heavily out manned or out equipped.
