altering images in .swf files

Sorry if this was covered before, but i have a small question. I was ussing trillix flash decompiler to edit the red arrow in the damageindicator.swf file. Thats not the problem, extracted it to ps cs5. erased most of it, and saved it as a png. used it instead of the origional, and save changes. First with alpha channel from cs5 in the editor the background showed as white. So i tried to change the color of the background to match the blackish color they use, cam close, but when i used it ingame i got a giant faded gray square with the arrow i wanted. So it seems i'm just using the wrong background color. What do they use to represent alpha?

I'm not familiar with editing flash files, but have you tried making the background transparent as well as using a mask in the alpha channel?

As far as I can guess usually you only need a transparent background, you don't even need the alpha channel.

figured it out, you need to magic erase all background, magic wand your selection, the ctrl+shift+i to invert, then create alpha channel, and save top layer only as .png
