I present to you, the Tortoise!
http://realitypod.co...39-Tortoise.jpg
This is a British Built 78 Ton Monster of a Heavy Tank (though more like a TD because of it's lack of a turret) was the last British attempt to build a heavy in World War II. it had 225mm of frontal armor, 7 crew, and most importantly a 32pdr OQF gun (92mm IIRC) though it is a bit slow, top speed is only 12kph (wat) and apparently has the same handling characteristics of a T28.
Still, anyone want to see this in action?
I see your Lowes and KV-5s, I RAISE YOU A TORTOISE!

I do look forward to it, but by its various downsides, including 12mm roof, if I recall, it'll make a normal tier 8 TD, a cross between the T28 (slow, heavy armor, 'small' size) and the Ferdi (embarrassing and rather inconsistent weak spots). It'll probably have better turn rate then T28, at least. It just looks like it.
I'd point out the cupola is rather big, and there's a mg spot too, both will be great weak spots.

The unofficial, fan-made, pre-alpha tree has it as a tier 9 TD.
I stress "unofficial" and "fan-made".

Well it would be a TD wouldn't it... it doesn't have a turret, defo td.
Plus the fact that it can go as fast backwards, as it can forwards due to an upgraded gear box. Gr8 for a TD eh?
And yeah, I want that tank in game.

It's not fan made. The picture is fan made, but he just prettied up a very much 'official' pre-alpha tree created by Wargaming itself. Read the original post in that thread.

While it's "unofficial" it's based on a prerelease tech tree...so, it's probably close to what will really be used.

By the looks the T95 is superior in every aspect, so I expect it to be a t8 td, and the t9 be some slightly less armoured yet faster t95

with 178mm side and rear armour (if thats true) this would be the 2nd most armoured tier 9 TD, and if they do what they did with the T95 and give it a gun far bigger than what they did in real life (183mm anybody

conway version FV4005 makes a far more logical tier 9 with less fake stats required and made up guns on it. Tortoise perfect tier 8
#-5 Posted Jan 19 2012 - 23:04
See, I agree that the FV4005 should be a tier 9 TD, but on another TD line like the US is getting, 1 line turreted the other not, theres enough TD's for it for sure, and who's really against more variety?

A 182mm gun would look really silly on this tank I think. The largest I can think of would be 120mm.

dont think you realise how big the tortoise actually is, far more room for the gun there than there is in the Object 704 and that gets the BL-10, could be wrong but wasnt the 32 pounder more effective than the 120mm?

Not sure, but the reason I said 120mm was because I don't think the British used a 150mm AT gun. I only know of the Conqueror's 120mm and the FV215b's 183mm.

it has been hinted by the dev's the tortoise will only be tier 8 as it just wasn't strong enough offensively.
