Hmm, trying to use this technique for something else but doesn't seem to get the wanted effect.
Two things I'm adding that needs some 3d feel. One thing is radios in the radio rack and the other is shells in a ammo rack. Any suggestions on how to make a flat picture of a radio andd use this teqchnique to make the knobs stand out and maybe the meters sink in a bit? (and the round bottom of shells stand out slightly from rack).

Wonderful tutorial, thanks. Here's a little link to some zimmerit patterns for you...

http://www.armorama....artid=30&page=5

Just convert them to black and white, resize and copy and paste the hell out of them (remember that in overlay or soft light white brightens, black darkens and grey keeps the colour underneath the same so if you can get the background colour of the tile to around 123ish in Red, Green, and Blue channels in RGB then you won't have any odd effects on the base colour other than what you want i,e, to signify depth. Has anybody discovered a way to get the zimmerit to 'pop' a little more? I'm using 'blend if' and I've discovered you have to be a little more heavy handed than you think you should be to get it to look good in-game.
Oh, and BTW, the numbering was done in a font called Utsaah but if anybody has a better font or a link to some large file insignia and numbers I'm all ears.

Hey guys.

I applied zimmerit to a VK3001H flecktarn skin i made sometime ago.I followed the guide 100% (using photoshop) but the zimmerit doesnt look so 3D...
Any ideas what might be the fault?
