Whats the difference besides stronger frontal armor?

Same gun similar speed same size...

Does the AMX-50B Gun reload faster?

I mean you look at the IS-7 VS IS-4 There is a huge improvement with the Frontal armor hitpoints and speed

But These 2 tanks seem pretty much the same..

Is 7 has less armor then the Is 4 , but more hitpoints , I suspect something odd like that is done at the end of the french line as well. One has more armor and a slightly faster reload?

Actually the IS7 has less frontal armor than the IS4, and accelerates the same.

The B has better accel I believe, not to mention the better armor, and slightly better reload times.

IS-4 Frontal armor is paper once you learn to shoot the Drivers hatch and even then its 140mm on the frontal plate. (160mm lower hull)

IS-7 Armor weakspots are smaller and harder to penetrate and the armor has better slope.

What. IS-7 has way better front armor than the IS-4 does. Oh and I can't remember but there are some reload time differences, along with you getting more hit points and armor.

I'm pretty sure that the AMX 50B can fire its whole canister faster than the AMX 50 120 and also gets a reduced reloading time. It also gets a more powerful engine.

both tanks have 2.5 seconds between shots.

Here's a table I compiled with all the values of the Autoloader tanks

i'm out of +1, that's effing awesome, you should open a new thread and have it stickied dude....

also, add a note that those values are with 100% crew

with 75% crew, the drum reload on the 50/100 is ~38s

Also: amx50b has much more frontal armor than the 50/120, it's not the same tank at all.

The 50b has 3.5 more HP per ton (19.3 vs 16.6) which is actually very noticeable difference in road speeds. And i think the autoloader is loaded faster with the 50B vs AMX 50 120 (5,71-6,86) Former ROF being 120's, latter being 50B's.

The AMX 50 120 values on the spreadsheet need to be updated when it's upgraded with the 120mm gun cause it's not 2.5 seconds. I've got both these Tanks.

AMX 50 120 with the 120mm gun has a refire every 3seconds. The 100mm on it however has a 2.5second refire rate. Reloading the Cartridges are the same, with Vents it's 32seconds.

AMX 50B how ever has a faster reload. A refire with 120mm at 2.5 seconds and a new Cartridge reload of 27seconds with Vents.

The difference between the 2 is that the 50B weighs about 3tonnes more, has a much faster acceleration (1200hp over 1000hp) superior slope on the Hull 170mm thick. Turrets are yeah, pretty much the same thickness but AMX50B stands a little taller which gives it way better depression over the AMX 50 120 like the T30s.

Crew Vents only decrease the time it takes to reload the Cartridge and doesn't decrease the time to refire between shells.

Not much. Most of the French tanks are paper tanks that never existed, tanks outside the WoT era or duplications of each other. The 120 and 50B are almost the same tank. The in-game difference is the 120 has an imaginary +.05 second modifier to the best gun's shot reload. Why? So you'll have a reason to get the 50B, I guess. The 120mm used on the AMX 120 isn't particularly useful because of the huge extra time you have to empty a drum. It goes from 7.5 seconds to 9 seconds, which is an eternity when you're trying to issue a spike. This plus an increased drum reload also dramatically lowers your DPM. The 100 remains the best gun on the 120 for this reason.

Basically, Wargaming knew they were the same thing, but they needed a tier 9 and tier 10, so they basically punished you for using the 120 on the AMX 120 (kind of defeats the point of a tank named after the gun, huh?). The AMX 120 ends up being almost just like the AMX 100, as a result. Although, that's not a big deal considering how good a tank the 100 can be.

So it has the T34/T30 syndrome?  Same hull, different-ish (less so than the t30/34) guns.

Nope, hull is VERY different.

AMX 50-120 front hull is 100mm that doesnt bounces anything.
AMX 50b is 170mm @ <60º, wich will bounce everything. (But since it has a big ass turret, Its not like someone will be shooting your hull xD.)

Also, 50-120 has a pike design while 50b is similar to IS-4 with shoulders.

Yes, 50B is a tier X so it's got slightly better stats and hp but over 200k xp? Really WG? Really?

Even a Maus costs less.

probably because the AMX 50 series don't have any turret research to suck up EXP, so they put a bit of extra cost to the tier 10 unlock

Am i missing something (surely i must be) or is your math a bit wrong?

I mean, take for example the AMX 50-120 90mm DCA-45 gun. It has an intra-drum refire rate of 2.5 seconds and a 32.5s drum reload time. Assuming you start with the drum full, you'll fire 6 shots in 12.5 seconds (one in the chamber + 5 reloads) and then you'll reload for 32.5 seconds. That's 45 seconds. After that you can fire again a full drum or 6 before the minute is over, so instead of 8 rounds per minute you actually fire 12...

So what's the catch? I'm currently at tier 5 so i have no idea how they actually work in practice so any help would be appreciated.

Every other tank spends over 20k in a turret, you guys dont. To keep it balanced, insted of having a 20k off, you get 20k more cost to research the next tank.

RoF is the average rate of fire at any moment.  Loaded, unloaded, partially loaded - that's how fast it fires and it's constant.  No need to twonder hing "well this tank must have a full canister to get that RoF" as it doesn't change depending on when you first start timing the shots done

every other  tier 10 tank actually has a tank, not a playable cardboard model.
and with the HUGE size and ZERO armor of the 50B turret, they should shave 50K off that grind...

it's the first time i've seen penetrating hits on a gun mantlet or any tier 8+ tank, the mantlet(which looks like 400mm of steel) GETS PENETRATED easily -i suspect a bug-
