I was told the VK 3001 P sucked...

And they were wrong. With the short 88,upgraded engine, and new radio,it is an amazing tank, the best T6 med,IMO.
Some of my best games have been in this tank.Kind of sad to see it go when I get the Tiger P (which I hear is great, does that mean it will suck?)
I can't count all the times I've taken down a T8 heavy because they let me get to their side,or locking up a Ferdinand and killing him while he frantically tries to shoot me,ahh, good times.
Just goes to show, their are no bad tanks, just bad drivers.

Agreed. A tank may not fit your style of play but that doesn't mean the tank sucks.

They didn't say the 3001P sucks, they say the stock tanks sucks, no armor, really small gun, terrible turning, literally as big as a KT if you look from the top and terrible acceleration. I actually tried the fully upgraded version on my friend's account. It still handled like a pile of bricks with 90% crew.

The traverse was never a problem for me,FYI,the VK 3601 H actually has worse.

All tier 6 vks become decent tanks when you get all the modules. Just need the patience to grind for them.

The problem most people have with it is that fully upgrading it is "grind hell".
Plus, the VK3601H is somewhat better and doesn't require quite so much grinding to be useful.

i can definitely agree with that, but the best tier 6 medium?!! Have you ever tried the VK3601H? It can use the same gun, is way smaller (no joke, the VK3001P is bigger than a tiger P and tiger! know from a friend of mine) and has way more armor, i love my VK3601, although i havent used the VK3001P yet, but i plan on researching/buying it eventually.
But the VK36 plays more like a mini-Tiger, whereas the 3001p plays more like a true medium than its research tree would suggest. Ergo, I suppose a lot of people play the 3001 expecting it to be a natural progression into the Tiger P, and are disappointed it can't be a frontline tank as effectively as the 36.
But I agree, the 3601 is fantastic, my favourite tier 6 so far for sure.

The 3601 may have better armor, although I have found when going against T9s that doesn't matter

vk3601Hs are very good when they're the top tiers. They have the armor of the tiger I Hs and good acceleration and fast firing short 88.
There are times when match maker puts 4~5 vk3601Hs on one side as top tiers while the other side gets more "regular" mediums. I have painful memories of those days when I was on the receiving end of such mm.
furthermore, vk3601H can flank well with the top engine. Even though they are capped at 40 kp/h, they have superb acceleration to flank enemies. So set up ambush (such as around corners, building, etc) then flank/circle the target instead of trying to cross long distance across open grounds to flank. It also has fast firing gun, so tracking (especially higher tier targets) then flanking is another option.

the 3001 only has slightly more speed than the 3601 but the 3601 has more armor and same gun...same gun, more armor, only slightly sower...and a lot smaller profile!!!! the 36 is also one of the best credit makers iv ever had... 375 battles in it

The "problem" with the 3001P was that stock, it's terrible. It's slow, turns like a boat on land, and its stock turret only mounts the 75L48, a gun that's barely adequate on the PZIV, much less work at the 3001P's matching. In order for the 3001P to obtain bite, it needs both the tracks and the turret researched, and with only the L48 it will take considerable effort and time.
Upgraded, the 3001P is decent. The engines allow it decent acceleration and the short 88 gives it some punch. After the armor regrouping the 3001P can actually deflect shots if angled right, but the armor's still comparatively thin.

Yes,angling is your friend. Bounced lots of shots from T-29s and IS-3s.

I liked the 3001P too, but the I liked the 3601 better.
Issue with the 3001P was that it was terrible stock, but once fully upgraded it's a solid tank.
